OF MOTOR VEHICLES ON THE ROADWAYS OF THE CITY AND PROVIDING A PENALTY. `: . BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITE' COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: i Section 1. Sneed limit: careless and imprudent driving. 1. Every �. :. driver of a motor vehicle shall drive in a careful and prudent manner on the roadways of this city and at a rate of speed so as not to endanger the property of another or the life or limb of any person. 2. No vehicle shall be driven at a speed in excess of: A. 70 Miles Per Hour: (a) On Highway 50-63 between Vetter's Lane underpass and the east city limit's line. (b) On Highway 50 between Dix Road overpass and the west city limit's line. B. 55 Miles Per Hour: (a) On Highway 50-63 between Vetter's Lane underpass and Dix Road .overpass. (b) On Highway 54 between the Missouri River Bridge and the south city limit's line. (c) On Highway 63 between Vetter's Lane underpass and the Missouri River Bridge. (d) Highway 179 between Industrial Drive and north city Zimit's line. C. 50 Miles Per Hour: (a) . On Country Club Drive between Highway 50 and the west city limit's line. D. " 40 Miles "Per Hour: (a) On Industrial Drive between McCarty Street and r North Ten Mile Drive. (b) On Ellis Boulevard between Highway 54 and Rosewood Drive. (c) On Dunklin Boulevard between a point located 500 r. feet west of Reisinger Road and South Ten Mile Drive. (d) On Business Highway 50 and 63 between Grant Street and the east city limit's line. (e) On North Ten Mile Drive between Industrial Drive and the west city limit's line. E. 30'Miles Per Hour: On all streets or highways- except where and when a different speed limit has been authorized or fixed in this subsection. F. 20 Miles Per Hour: (a) On all roadways in any school zone between the hours of 7:00 A.M. and 5:00 P.M. on any day that a school, in or adjacent to the zone, is attended by children. (b) On Chestnut Street between Dunklin Street and Elm Street. (c) Un Elm Street between Cherry Street and Locust Street. (d) On Lafayette Street between Dunklin Street and Miller Street. (e) On Miller Street between Chestnut Street and Locust Street. (f) On Vetter's Lane between High Street and Elm Street. G. 15 Miles Per Hour: Within any public park in the city. 3. imam 8011M olill II Nothing in subsection 2 hereof .shall make the speeds fixed therein lawful in a situation requiring a lower speed for compliance with the basic rule declared in subsection 1 of this section. Section 2. Misdemeanor. Anyone violating any of the terms of Section I of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon con- viction thereof shall be punished by a fine of not more than $100.00 or by imprisonment in jail for not longer than 90 days or by both such fine and imprisonment. Section 3. Savings Clause. The city reserves unto itself the right to proceed under any existing ordinance, or part thereof, repealed hereby, for violation of such ordinance or ordinances occurring prior hereto and to prosecute for such violations in the city police court or in any appropriate, appellate court any existing appeals from convictions in the city police court of a violation of any ordinance, or part thereof, repealed by this ordinance. Section 4. Repeal Clause. All ordinances, or parts of ordinances, in conflict with this ordinance are repealed insofar as they conflict. Section 5. 'Effective Date_.
