However, please do not recycle cardboard or paper that has food remains or stains. Cardboard boxes should be broken down and flattened before being put out for pick up! Waste Pro will pick up large items, such as kitchen appliances or furniture, but you must schedule such special pick-ups. See Waste Pro contact info below. Yard waste is picked up on Wednesdays. Make sure your bundles or bags are small enough to be picked up easily and are kept dry. Please do not secure containers or bundles with bungee cords, which may break or slip and snap, potentially causing severe injuries of workers or even passers-by! You can contact WastePro or by calling them at City Hall: 912.786.4573 x131, or directly at 912.965.0777. On-line forms for complaints, service requests or kudos are on the DPW Department’s page on the City web site. City Web Site Features You can now subscribe to RSS feeds on any page of the City’s web site. They are all conveniently gathered in one spot, which is indexed on the left-hand menu. RSS Feeds allow you to subscribe to items of interest to you. You will receive a notification in your email whenever changes or additions are made to your subscribed pages. A section has also been added called “City Newsletter” on which departmental reports and items of community interest will be placed, such as this newsletter! If you are not already aware, note that you can have your non-profit event listed on the City’s Calendar pages by clicking on the City Calendar link and then selecting to “Post an Event”. Of course, City staff also stand ready to speak with you when that is more appropriate. The City Hall phone number is listed above, and individual emails and extensions are found at the City Directory link on the web. Saving Money on Your Water Bill Water rates are increasing, but that doesn’t mean you have to pay more! Even a slow leak in a faucet can lose 250 gallons each month! Find and fix those leaks! A low-flow shower head can cut bathroom water usage by as much as 50%. Watch your usage! Higher use may indicate a leak! Visit www.cityoftybee.org for latest news related to City government, business, weather and emergency alerts, events calendar, and more.
