AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI FIXING THE SALARIES AND EXPENSE ACCOUNTS OF CITY ELECTIVE AND APPOINTIVE I VE OFFICIALS AND EMPLOYEES , AND REPEALING ORDINANCE NUMBER 1 OF THE CITY AND ALL OTHER ORDINANCES OF THE CITY, OR PART S THEREOF, IN CONFLICT HEREWITH. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Com ensation of elective officials. The fol- lowing named elective otticers ot the City of Jeffers-on, Missouri, shall receive the following compensation for the performance of their duties and, as specifically allowed herein, the following expense accounts to defray expenses incurred by them in the per- formance of their official duties: (1) The Maor shall receive the sum of $200.00 per month as salary, and in addition thereto, shall receive $75.00 per month as an expense account. (2) The City Attorney shall receive the sum of $500.00 er month as salary, ancT-'in addition thereto, shall receive p$100.00 per month as an expense account. (3) The Police Judge shall receive the sum of $280.00 '' per month as salary,anaddition thereto, shall receive thb • sum of $50.00 per month as an expense account. �. (4) The City Treasurer shall receive the sum of $100.00 per month as salary, and in addition thereto, shall receive the .sum of $75.00 per month as an expense account. (5) The CCittyAssessor shall receive a sum as salary that is equal to two-ti- irds"(Z/:3 'of the fees paid to the county as- sessor for returning merchants ' and manufacturers' lists and for making assessments and returns on lists of personal property; in addition thereto, the City Assessor shall receive a sum not to exceed $800.00 annually for pa ent of such additional part time help, at a rate not to exceed $1. 75 per hour, as the City Assessor shall require in the efficient operation of his .office. (6) The City Collector shall receive the sum of $700.00 per month as salary; in add! n thereto, the City Collector shall receive, on all delinquent taxes, a sum equal to four (4%) per cent of the amount of all delinquent taxes plus the penalty thereon, which amount shall be added to the amount owed by the delinquent taxpayer and collected from the person paying said de- linquent taxes. Each Councilman shall receive sum of 7 per monthassalar�andinaitionthereto shallrece ve $100.00 per month as an -expense account. Section 2. Sewer Construction Ins Rectors. Each sewer construction inspector shall receive no more than $535.50 per month as salary from the Construction Account of the Sewer Bond Fund plus an automobile allowance of $75.00 per month. } L 4V 9110WON RM C Section 3. Definitions: As used in this ordinance, the following terms sha ave""£Tie following meanings: (1) Period 1 - The employment period beginning with the '1st month and ending with the 12th month. (2) Period 2 - The employment period beginning with the 13th month and ending with the 24th month. (3) Period 3 - The employment period beginning with the 25th month and ending with the 36th month. (4) 'Period 4 - The employment period beginning with the 37th month and ending with the 48th month. (5) Period 5 - The employment period beginning with the 49th month and continuing thereafter. Any Department Head of the city at any time may suggest to the Accounts and Claims Committee of the council that the em- ployment period of the department head, or of any employee in the department, be advanced. If the committee recommends to the city council that such advancement be approved, and the council accepts and approves such recommendation, the employment period of the department head, or the employee of the department, shall be advanced accordingly and compensation shall thereafter be, ., paid on the basis of the newly established employment period. : , No employee shall advance more than one step in the pay• s•chediile unless approved by the council. in advance, and the City Clerk shall refuse payment until authorized. Section 4. Each Department Head must secure council ap- proval prior to hiring any employee regardless of the department, F, and the salary is to be within the salary range established by steps within the bracket for which he is being hired, and the City Clerk shall refust payment until authorized. u Section 5. Each member of the Police, Street, Sewer, and Transit Authority Departments shall receive $15.00 per month as a uniform allowance. The Humane Of- ficer and his assistant and all Parking Garage Attendants shall { receive $10.00 per month as a uniform allowance. Section. 9. Municipally Owned Vehicles. All municipally owned vehicles shall be used in the per Forma of official city duties only. Section 10. Repeal Clause. Ordinance numberg{� and such other ordinances, or parts of ordinances as are in con- z', flict with this ordinance are, and are hereby declared to be, repealed. b Section 11. Effective Date.
