ORDINANCE NO. EQ QD
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, REGULATING THE
PARKING OF MOTOR VEHICLES ON THE ROADWAYS OF THE CITY, PRESCRIBING
A PRESUMPTION, AND PROVIDING A PENALTY.

BE IT ORDAINED BY TIME CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON,
MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Loading Zone, Location of. The described area on
the following named roadway is a loading zone between the hours of
8:00 A.M. and 5:00 P.M. every day except Sunday:
(10) The north half of Capitol 'Avenue between points
located 30 feet and 64 feet
east of !he east curb of Madison Street.
Section 2. Parking Prohibited. The driver of a vehicle shall
not park it in the loading zone established in the preceding sec-
tion, except that commercial vehicles and trucks may be parked in
the loading zone for fifteen (15) minutes or less while loading or
unloading goods, wares, merchandise or materials at business places
in the area.
Section 3. Presumption to apply. In any prosecution for a
violation of any provision of Section 2 of this ordinance, proof
that the vehicle described in the complaint was parked in violation
of any provision of Section 2 hereof, together with proof that the
defendant named in the complaint was at the time of such parking
the owner of the vehicle, shall constitute in evidence a prima fac
presumption that the owner of the vehicle was the person who parked
the vehicle at the point where, and at the time during which, such
violation occurred.
Section 4. Penalty. Any person violating the terms of Sec-
tion 2 of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor,
and upon conviction thereof shall be fined not more than $100.00 or
be imprisoned not more than 90 days, or incur both such fine and
imprisonment.
Section 5. Effective Date. This ordinance shall take effect
and be i force from and after its passage and approval.
