AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, REPEALING
ORDINANCE NO. 6617, RELATING TO THE DISCHARGE OF FIREARMS AND OTHER
WEAPONS WITHIN THE CITY, AND ENACTING A NEW ORDINANCE RELATING TO
THE SAME SUBJECT, AND PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR VIOLATION THEREOF.
.I. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON,
MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Repeal Clause. Ordinance Number 6617 of the City
of Jefferson, Missouri, pertaining to the firing and discharge of
firearms and other weapons is, and it is hereby repealed.
++ Section 2. Discharge of firearms and other weapons. Subject
AUto the provisions of Section 3 hereof, any person within this city
who shall fire or discharge any rifle, shotgun, pistol, revolver,
automatic or "B-B" gun, or who shall propel or sling any rocks,
,arrows or other hard substances by his hands, by means of a sling,
or bow, shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor.
�! Section 3. Exemption. The provisions of Section 2 hereof
�lshall not apply:
`J (a) To the use of bow and arrows by members of organized
archery clubs in the city, within any city park author-
ized by the Park Board, subject to all rules, regulations
' and safety requirements of the Park Board.
(b) To the use of firearms by any person in defense
of his life. ,
(c) To the use of firearms by law enforcement officials
in the performance of their duties.
(d) To the use of firearms by law enforcement officials
in target practice on any gunnery range operated by any
f law enforcement agency in the city.
Section 4. Effective Date. This ordinance shall take effect
and be in force from and after its passage and pproval.
