AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON RELATING TO THE EMPLOYMENT B
THE CITY OF JEFFERSON OF RELATIVES OF CERTAIN ELECTED AND APPOINTEE
OFFICIALS, AND PROVIDING A PENALTY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON,
MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Definitions . For thE:; purposes of this
ordinance the terms "officials" and "relatives" shall have the
following meanings:
(a) "Officials" shall include the Mayor, City
Attorney, City Councilmen, City Assessor, City Treasurer, City
Collector, Police Judge, City Clerk, Director of Public Works,
Director of Health, Planning Director, Police Chief, Fire Chief
and Transit Manager.
(b) "Relative" shall include fattier, mother, son,
daughter, grandfather, grandmother, grandson, granddaughter,
brother, sister, half-brother, half-sister, uncle, aunt, niece,
nephew, father-in-law, mother-in-law, sister-in-law, or brother-
in-law,.
Section 2. No official shall employ any person on behalf
of the City of Jefferson who is a relative of any official of the
City of Jefferson, while said official is still receiving any
remuneration from the City.
Section 3. Upon receipt of information that a relative
of an official has been employed by the City of Jefferson, the
Mayor shall notify said official and relative within five (5) days
If, after an investigation, the Mayor determines' said fact to be
true, he shall order said person dismissed.
Section 4. The provisions of this ordinance shall not
apply to any person employed by the City of Jefferson on the
effective date hereof.

Section S. This ordinance shall take force and effect upon
its passage and approval.
