ORDINANCE NO.
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, AMENDING
ORDINANCE NUMBER 8011 OF THE CITY, KNOWN AS THE PLUMBING
CODE ORDINANCE, BY ADDING CHAPTER 16 TO PERMIT THE USE OF
ABS AND PVC PLASTIC MATERIAL FOR CERTAIN CONSTRUCTION.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON,
MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS :
SECTION 1. Ordinance Number 8011 of the City of Jefferson,
Missouri, known as the Plumbing Code Ordinance be, and the same
is hereby, amended by adding Chapter 16 thereto the following
additional chapter, identified as Chapter 16.
CHAPTER 16
Permissable Uses of ABS and PVC Plastics
and Installation Specifications
Section 16.1 Scope: This section of Ordinance 8011 shall
deal only with plastic pipe and fittings (ABS and PVC) ,
and shall be under the same administration and enforcement
as Chapters 1-15.
Section 16.2 Materials and Installation Standards : Approve
PVC (Poly vinyl cloride) pipe and fittings shall be as
specified in A.S .T.M. D2665-68, Product Standard P.S.-27-69
and shall be installed as called out in installation
Standard I.S .-9-68.
Approved ABS (Acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene) pipe and
fittings shall be as specified in Product Standard P.S.
17-66 and shall be installed as called out in Installation
Standard I.S .-5-66.
NOTE: Polyethylene Pipe is not permitted for any
application regulated by this code.
All materials, pipe and fittings, approved under this
section shall bear the production code-control markings
as approved in the related 'Standards ' previously mentioned
Installation of plastic pipe shall be governed by -the
same criteria, (distance, slope, etc. ) as all other product
approved in this Ordinance.
Section :3.6,3 Permitted Application of ABS and PVC Pipe� �far
D.W.V.SVi�t°g: Approved ABS and PVC Plastic Pipe and Fitting
may be used for drain, waste and vent applications in the
following structures which shall not exceed three (3) level
including basement or ground level.
a. Single family residence
b. Duplex - 2 family residence
C. Hotels - Motels
d. Convents - Monasteries
e. Apartments
f. Boarding and lodging homes
g. Churches - Schools
i. Private clubs, fraternities, sororities, and lodges .
Repairs and alterations to existing buildings with the
use of plastic pipe shall be approved in writing by the
Building Commissioner and Plumbing Inspector.

SECTION 2 . This ordinance shall take effect and be in
force from and after its passage and approval.
