AN ORDINANCE OF THE CIT`y OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, REPEALING
ORDINANCE NO. 7975 OF THE CITY DEFINING THE EXISTING CITY
BOUNDARY, AND ENACTING A NEW ORDINANCE PERTAINING TO THE SAME
SUBJECT.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Jefferson, Missouri ,
did adopt Resolutions on January 6, 1969, to annex the following
described unincorporated areas of land contiguous to the cor-
porate city limits:
Beginning on the east bank of Turkey Creek (formerly Cedar Creek) at a point
lying on the westerly extension of the south right-of-way line of Water Street, Cedar
City, Missouri; thence southerly along the east bank of Turkey Creek (formerly Cedar
Creek) to the north bank of the Missouri River; thence southwesterly to the centerline
of the Missouri River along a line perpendicular to the centerline of the Missouri River;
thence southeasterly along the centerline of the Missouri River to the west line of Section
22,T44N, .RIIW;thence north along the west line of Sections 22 and 15,T44N, RIIW,
to a point 130 feet south of the south line of the old Airport Road (said point lying
on the corporate limits of Cedar City, Missouri); thence westerly along a line 130
feet south of the south line of the old Airport Road to a point 200 feet east of the
east right-of�way lin-s of old U.S. 54; thence southerly along a line 200 feet east of the
east right-of-way line of old U.S. 54 to the north bank of the Missouri River; thence
westerly along the north bank of the Missouri River to a point 200 feet west of the
west right-of-way line of old U.S. 54; thence north along a line 200 feet west of the
westt right-of-way line of old U.S. 54 to a point on the easterly extension of the south
right-of-way line of Water Street, Cedar City, Missouri; thence northwesterly along
the south right-of-way line of Water Street and the extensions thereof to the point
of beginning, all in Callaway County, Missouri; and
Beginning at the northeast corner of Section 16, T44N, RllW, thence South 4
degrees 30 minutes East along the section line to a point 220 feet north of the north
line of the old Airport Road, (said point lying on the corporate limits of Cedar City,
Missouri); thence westerly along a line 220 feet north of the north line of the old
Airport Road to a point 200 feet more or less east of the east right-of-way line of old
U.S. 54; thence north along the corporate city limits of Cedar City, Missouri, to the
point of beginning, all in Callaway County, Missouri; and
Beginning at the northwest corner of New Madrid Private Survey 2638, thence
North 85 degrees 03 minutes East, 343.2 feet; thence North 0 degrees 26 minutes East,
133 fret; thence North 84 degrees 18 minutes East, 1045.8 feet; thence South 4 degrees
30 atinutes East, 520.7 feet; thence South 54 degrees 22 minutes East, 707.8 feet;
thence North 84 degrees 15 minutes East, 3456.8 feet, to the east line of New Madrid
Private Survey 2638; thence north along the east line of said Private Survey 2638, and
the northerly extension thereof to the north right-of-way line of the M.K.&T. Railroad;
thence northwesterly along the north right-of-way line of the M.K.&T. Railroad to
Station 7569+27.2 of th% M.K.&T. Railroad; thence South 56 degrees 12 minutes
West to the corporate limits of Cedar City, -Missouri; thence generally easterly along
the corporate limits of Cedar City, Missouri, to the point of beginning, all in Callaway
County, Missouri.

WHEREAS, the City of Jefferson, Missouri, did cause to be
filed in the Circuit Court of Cole County, Missouri, in Docket
Number 28 ,768 a suit for a declaratory judgment authorizing the
annexation by the City of the unincorporated areas of land
described above, and
WHEREAS, on. the 22nd day of September, 1970 , the Circuit
Court of Cole County, Missouri, did enter its judgment in said
ON-
suit authorizing the annexation into the City of the unincor-
porated areas of land described above upon the consent of a
majority of the qualified voters of the City voting at an
election to be hold for such purpose in said city, the afore-
mentioned judgment having heretofore become final, and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Council of the City of
Jefferson, Missouri, with the consent of a majority of the legal
voters of said city voting at an election to be held for such
purpose in said City, by the passage and approval of a city
ordinance, have power to extend the limits of the City over
territory contiguous thereto, and
WHEREAS, thereafter, by Ordinance Number 83_61 of the
City of Jefferson, Missouri , passed by the City Council on
May 17, 1971, and approved by the Mayor of said City on
May 20, 1971, it was provided that a special election be held
in the City of Jefferson, County of Cole, Missouri, on Tuesday,
the 29th day of June, 1971, to submit to the qualified voters of
the City, inter alia, the following proposition, to-wit:
P R O P O S I T I O N
That the corporate limits of the City of Jefferson,
Missouri, shall be extended to include the following unincor-
porated areas of land contiguous to the corporate city limits:

Beginning at the northeast corner of Section 16, T44N, R11W, thence South 4
degrees 30 minutes East along the section line to a point 220 feet north of the north
line of the old Airport Road, (said point lying on the corporate limits of Cedar City,
Missouri); thence westerly along a line 220 feet north of the north line of the old
Airport Road to a point 200 feet more or less cast of the east right-of-way line of old
U.S. 54; thence north along the corporate city limits of Cedar City, Missouri, to the
point of beginning, all in Callaway County, Missouri; and
Beginning at the northwest corner of New Madrid Private Survey 2638, thence

WHEREAS, at said special municipal election held in the City
of Jefferson, Missouri, on Tuesday, June 29, 1971, said
proposition was submitted to the legal qualified voters of the
city, and
WHEREAS, due and legal notice was given, as required by law,
for the holding of said special municipal election on Tuesday,
June 29, 1971, for the purpose of submitting said proposition,
stating tha: all legal and qualified voters of the City of
Jefferson, Missouri , would be entitled and have an opportunity
to vote on said proposition, and
WHEREAS, under the provisions of Section 77.020 R.S.Mo. , the
Mayor and the City Council of the City of Jefferson, Missouri,
with the consent of a majority of the legal voters of such city
voting at an election thereof, have power to extend the limits
of the city over territory adjacent thereto, and
WHEREAS, a special• committee of the City Council of the
City of Jefferson, Missouri., after canvassing the votes cast at
said election of June 29 , 1971, dial report on _ July_6� 1221,
to the Mayor and City Council. of said City that of the votes cast
by the qualified voters of the City on the proposition herein-
above written that � votes were cast for and 112
votes were cast against, said proposition, and
. . . I WHEREAS, said .proposition received, more than a majority of
the votes cast on said proposition at the aforementioned election.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Ordinance Number 7975 of the City of Jefferson,
Missouri, defining and declaring the boundaries of the city be,
and the same is hereby repealed.
Section 2. That the limits and boundaries of the City of
Jefferson, Missouri, are extended , defined and declared to be as
follows, in the Counties of Cole and Callaway, in the State of
Missouri, to-wit:

1 Beginning in the center of the Missouri River at a point on
the extension northerly of the westerly line of Private Sur-
vey #2680; thence southerly along the said northerly exten-
sion and the westerly 'line of Private Survey #2680 to the
northeasterly corner of Section 22, Township 44, Range 11;
thence southwesterly in a direct line to the southerly right-
of-way line of U.S .Route #50, at Station 225+00 (Mo. Project
F-1 (12) ) ; thence westerly along the southerly right-of-way
line of the aforementioned U.S .Route #50 to the southerly
line of Fractional Section 21, Township 44, Range 11; thence
west to the southwest corner of the southwest quarter of the

Moreau River to the quarter section line in Section 29, Town-
ship 44, Range 11; thence westerly along the quarter sectibb

tends to the intersection of the north bank of the Missouri
River and the east bank of Turkey Creek (formerly Cedar Creek);
thence perpendicular to the centerline of the Missouri River
to the intersection of the north bank of the Missouri River
and the east bank of Turkey Creek (formerly Cedar Creek) ;
thence northeasterly along the east bank of Turkey Creek
(formerly Cedar Creek) ; to the corporate limits of Cedar City,
Missouri; thence along the corporate limits of Cedar City,
Missouri, in a counterclockwise direction to a point that
lies northerly of the present U.S . Route #63 and is south 56
degrees 12 minutes West of Station 7569+27 .2 of the M.K.&T.
Railroad; thence North 56 degrees 12 minutes East to the north
right-of-way line of the M.K.&T. Railroad; thence southeast-
erly along the north right-of-way line of the M.K.&T. Rail-
road to the northerly extension of the east line of New

Section 3. This ordinance shall be in force and effect from
