Perry, Secretary; Girard Healy, Treasurer; Members -at -large Dave lannitelli and Jan Crocker Clare O'Connor -Rice called the meeting to order at 5:00 pm at Brewster town Offices. Members present: Clare O'Connor -Rice, Girard Healy, Richard Perry and Jan Crocker attended. Dave lannitelli attended by Zoom. Also present was, Marla Kerr who is slated to join the Council in November. The Minutes of the September 11th meeting were approved. Treasurer Girard Healy reported a current balance $5,080.33, $8,000 receivables and $5,465 Payables. on hand much was earmarked for two 2023 grant recipients who had not yet completed their request. Girard also reported that the String Quartet performance at the UU Church on October 14th was a success with 70 attendees and a profit of $48.24 after payment of $375 to the First Parish Church. Discussion about charging admission since about 25% of people who signed up failed to show. Social media seemed the best way to contact potential audience. Dave lannitelli discussed his Movement workshop and Volunteer Day Fair event. Both were poorly attended due to rain. The Council has now Joined the AFCC. Jan and Girard are in charge of planning for Juneteenth celebration in cooperation with the Council on Aging, the Historical Society, the Cape Verdean Museum, slated for Drummer Boy Park on 6/19/2024 from 10-2. There will be a jazz quartet headed by Fred Clayton. The Nauset Youth Alliance will be designing and making a Brewster Cultural Council banner. Girard and Jan are working on a "Literary Day" event with authors on food preparation. Discussion of asking the town of Brewster to increase Cultural Council funding. Richard volunteered to contact other local Councils to see what support they receive from their towns. The Update on new grant cycle - Clare reported on the three sessions at the Library to assist applicants. Those artists that came suggested Brewster should have an artists' guild. Richard said there first needs to be a reliable venue to hold meetings and one more reason the arts building on the Sea Camp property needs to be given over to the Cultural Council. Discussion of future projects: turtles, a designer showcase at the Sea Camp headquarters building. Discussion of Council grants: tomorrow the 17th is the deadline. Clare estimated 23-30 applicants. She will notify the council members and assign reviews. The Council voted to set aside 20 for the council's own projects and 5% administration budget. Girard will make up a new spread sheet for grants. October 23 at 3-5 was agreed upon for the initial grant evaluation, with a second session on October 30 1-3 pm. Clare will confirm. Discussion of wreath making project with Becky and possibly the Garden Club. The next regular meeting date: November 20, 2023 at 5 pm. The meeting was adjourned at 6:00 pm.
