HomeMy Public PortalAboutCouncil on Aging Board -- 2022-07-21 Minutest, ! 4 iti_wl — ?isl,iR Minutes of Brewster Council on Aging Advisory Board Meeting July 21, 2022 Present: Denise Rego, Director, Co-chairs Andrea Nevins and Sharon Tennstedt, Steve Holmes, Honey Pivirotto (Fin Com Liaison), Annie Rapaport (COA Program Coordinator), Jay Green Absent: Cindy Bingham (SB Liaison), Laura Usher, Penny Holleman Meeting called to order and Governors' Orders read by Andrea Nevins at 1:00 pm Documents and exhibits: Minutes of June 16, 2022, Meeting Agenda, Directors' Report, Action Plan Implementation FY23, UMass Boston Brewster needs assessment, Select Board Strategic Plan FY 22-23 Minutes of June 16, 2022 were unanimously approved. DIRECTORS' REPORT: - See Report - A total of 80 shellfish licenses went to seniors this year Liz Kokernak of Barnstable County Regional Shine office will help seniors with Shine questions - We are working to relocate Mobile Food Distribution to COA Senior Center for ease of distribution - COA and Health Department are working with other departments on hoarding issues at Wells Court - Movie night at First Light will have directed parking and a food stop. Bring beach chairs and bug spray. Pram Report See Action Plan Implementation COA will check with Mike Gradone on the use of the gym at Eddy School - Serenity is opening up their new housing addition through the lottery system - Many of the programs that are offered at the COA are not well attended. The feeling is that attendance is betterwhen programs are offered at the library. Will look to Site Programs at the library- - Will reach out to Woodlands and Serenity with our programs Needs Assessment - Received a statement from UMass and we need to look at the timeline - The survey will probably be done in the spring of 2023 Need to focus on what we need to ask in the survey this fall Sea Camp Committee Liaison - Sharon was nominated as the COA Liaison to the Sea Camp Committee Select Boards' Strategic Plan - Need to add survey and next 5 -year Action Plan along with aging and housing concerns Grant Options Local source of Grants found in Cape Cod Community Foundation. They have 300 different source agencies. Jay will provide application to revisit the request for benches. We also need to provide:objectives for Grant Funding for future requests Committee Reports - Recreation Committee: - Board approved modifications to Pickleball Courts - They reviewed the baseball field irrigation upgrade report - All cracks in Tennis Courts have been repaired t , - VisionAetiog-Committee: - Town will put out an announcement on the availability of the summary of plans - The committee will review comments in mid-August and make revisions - In September results will be presented at a Public Hearing and then present at the Town Meeting in November New Business -Tour of Sea Camp August 18th from 11-12, before the Board Meeting No Old Business Next Meeting: August 18, 2022 at Town Hall, Room A Adjournment: Meeting adjourned by Andrea at 2:25 pm.
