�1AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, REPEALING ORDINAN E
yINO. 8383 OF THE CITY DEFINING THE EXISTING CITY BOUNDARY, AND EN-
1ACTING A NEW ORDINANCE PERTAINING TO THE SAME SUBJECT.

WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Jefferson, Missouri,
`; did adopt Resolutions on February 4 , 1974, to annex the following
" described unincorporated areas of land contiguous to the corporate
city limits:
Beginning at the northeast corner of New Madrid
Private Survey 2638 , thence southerly along the east
line of said Private Survey 2638 a distance of 4086 . 8
feet ; thence north 64° 11 ' west , 2635 .07 feet ; thence
south 84°15 ' west , 1466 . 89 feet ; thence south 6°00 '
east to the center of the Missouri River; thence south-
easterly along the centerline of the Missouri River to
the north-south quarter-quarter section line in the west
half of Section 23, Township 44 North, Range 11 West ;
thence northerly along the quarter-quarter section lines
of Sections 23 , 14 and 11 of Township 44 North, Range 11
i West, to the toe of the bluff; thence northwesterly
along the toe of the bluff to its intersection with the
south bank of the Halifax Diversion Channel , said
intersection being approximately 300 feet east of the
centerline of U. S.Route 54 and approximately 900 feet
north of the centerline of the M.K.& T. Railroad ; thence
�± northwesterly along the south bank of the Halifax Diversion
i Channel to its intersection with Turkey Creek ; thence
westerly and southerly along the south and east banks of
Turkey Creek to a point lying 200 feet perpendicularly
from the north right-of-way line of present U. S. Route 63 ;
i thence southeasterly and parallel to the northerly right-
of-way line of present U. S. Route 63 to a point lying
�i south 56 012 ' west of Station 7569+27. 2 on the north
right-of-way line of the M.K.& T. Railroad ; thence north
(� 5612 ' east to said Station 7569+27. 2 on the north right-
of-way line of the M.K.& T. Railroad; thence southeasterly
f; along the north right-of-way line of the M.K.& T. Railroad
to the west line of Section 11 , Township 44 North, Range
11 West ; thence southerly to the point of beginning, all
in Callaway County, Missouri.

WHEREAS, the City of Jefferson, Missouri, did cause to be
filed in the Circuit Court of Callaway County, Missouri , in Docket
Number 31,743 a suit for a�-Ae6laratory judgment authorizing the an
vexation by the City of the unincorporated areas of land described
above , and
f WHEREAS, on the 15th day of April, 1975, the Circuit Court of
Callaway County, Missouri , did enter its judgment in said suit au-
thorizing the annexation into the City of the unincorporated areas
of land described above upon the consent of a majority of the quali-
fied voters of the City voting at an election to be held for such
purpose in siad city, the aforementioned judgment having heretofore

WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Council of the City of Jefferson,
Missouri ,,. with the consent of a majority of the legal voters of
said City voting at an election to be held for such purpose in said

' City, by by the passage and approval of a city ordinance, have power
I! to extend the limits of the City over territory contiguous thereto '

WHEREAS, thereafter, by Ordinance Number 8826 of the City of
I�Jefferson, Missouri, passed by the City Council*�.on March 1, 1976 ,
land approved by the Mayor of said City of March 4 , 1976 , it was pro-
1! vided that an election be held in the City of Jefferson, County of )
!l Cole, Missouri, on Tuesday, the 6th day of April, 1976 , to submit
to the qualified voters of the City, inter alia, the following pro-
position, to-wit:
P R O P O S I T I O N
That the corporate limits of the City of Jefferson, Missouri,
shall be extended to include the following unincorporated areas of
land contiguous to the corporate city limits:
Beginning at the northeast corner of New Madrid
Private Survey 2638, thence southerly along the east
line of said Private Survey 2638 a distance of 4086 . 8
feet ; thence north 640 11 ' west , 2635.07 feet ; thence
® t south 84 015 ' west , 1466 . 89 feet; thence south 6°00 '
east to the center of the Missouri River; thence south-
easterly along the centerline of the Missouri River to
the north-south quarter-quarter section line in the west
half of Section 23, Township 44 North, Range 11 West ;
thence northerly along the quarter-quarter section lines
of Sections 23, 14 and 11 of Township 44 North, Range 11
West, to the toe of the bluff; thence northwesterly
along the toe of the bluff to its intersection with the

along the north right-of-way line of the M.K.& T. Railroad
to the west line of Section 11 , Township 44 North, Range
11 West ; thence southerly to the point of beginning, all
in Callaway County, Missouri.
WHEREAS, at siad municipal election held in the City of
Jefferson, Missouri, on Tuesday, April 6 , 1976 , sAid proposition
was submitted to the legal qualified voters of the city, and

WHEREAS, due and legal notice was given, as required by law,
for the holding of said municipal election on Tuesday, April 6,
1976 , for the purpose of submitting said proposition, stating that
all legal and qualified voters of the City of Jefferson, Missouri,
would be entitled and have an opportunity to vote on said proposi-
tion, and
WHEREAS, under the provisions of Section 77. 020 R.S.mo. , the
Mayor and the City Council of the City of Jefferson, Missouri , with
! the consent of a majority of the legal voters of such city voting
at an election thereof, have power to extend the limits of the City
,over territory adjacent thereto, and

WHEREAS, a cpecial committee of the City Council of the City I
l'of Jefferson, Missouri, after canvassing the votes cast at said
;'election of April 6 , 1976 , did report on April 20 , 1976 , to the
ilMayor and City Council of said City that of the votes cast by the
!qualified voters of the City on the proposition hereinabove written
{ithat 1767 votes were cast for and 635 votes were cast against said
proposition, and

WHEREAS, said proposition received more than a majority of the
votes cast on said proposition at the aforementioned election.
INOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
; JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:

it Section 1. Ordinance Number 8383 of the City of Jefferson,
;Missouri, defining and declaring the boundaries of the city be, and
{1the same is hereby repealed.

Section 2. That the limits and boundareis of the City of
Jefferson, Missouri, are extended, defined and declared to be as
11follows, in the Counties of Cole and Callaway, in the State of
Missouri , to-wit:

Beginning in the center of the Missouri River at a point on
r; the extension northerly of the westerly line of Private Sur-
f' vey #2680; thence southerly along the said northerly exten-
sion and the westerly line of Private Survey #2680 to the
northeasterly corner of Section 22, Township 44, Range 11 ;
thence southwesterly in a direct line t-o the southerly right-
of-way line of U.S .Route #50, at Station 225+00 (Mo. Project
F-1 (12) ) ; thence westerly along the southerly right-of-way
I line of the aforementioned U.S .Route #50 to the southerly
line of Fractional Section 21, Township 44, Range 11; thence
west to the southwest corner of the southwest quarter of the
northwest quarter of Fractional Section 21, Township 44,
Range 11 ; thence south 660 feet , more or less, along the sec-
tion line to the south line of Outlot 112 and the north line
of Fractional Section 20, Township 44, Range 11 ; thence west
along the north line of Fractional Section 20 to the east line
of the northwest quarter of the southwest quarter of Fraction-
al Section 20, Township 44, Range 1.1; thence south to the
