1AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI , REPEALING ORDINANd
fNO. 8897 OF THE CITY DEFINING THE EXISTING CITY BOUNDARY, AND EN-
ACTING A NEW ORDINANCE PERTAINING TO THE SAME SUBJECT.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Jefferson, Missouri , t
,dial adopt Resolutions on July 15, 1974 , to annex the following
described unincorporated areas of land contiguous to the corporate
Icity limits:
Beginning at the northeast corner of Fractional Section 4 ,
Township 44 North, Range 12 West; thence southerly along the
east line of said Fractional Section 4 to the southeast
corner thereof; thence westerly along the southerly line of
said Fractional Section 4 to the centerline of the west half
of the northeast quarter of Section 9; thence southerly
along the centerline of the west half of the northeast
quarter of Section 9 to the quarter section line; thence
easterly along the quarter section line of Sections 9 , 10
and 11 to the center of Section 11; thence southerly along
the quarter section line of Sections 11 and 14 to the southerly
line of Section 14 ; thence westerly along the southerly line
of Section 14; to the quarter quarter section line in the
west half of Section 14 ; thence northerly along the quarter
quarter section lines of Sections 14 and 11 to the northeast
corner of the southwest quarter of the southwest quarter of
Section 11; thence westerly along the quarter quarter section j
` lines of Sections 11, 10, 9 and 8 to the quarter section
II line at the center of Section 8 ; thence northerly along the
quarter section line of Section 8 to the north line of
Section 8 ; thence easterly along the north line of Sections
8 and 9 to a point on the centerline of the southwest quarter
of the southwest quarter of Fractional Section 4 ; thence
northerly along the centerline of the southwest quarter of
the southwest quarter of said Fractional Section 4 to the
quarter quarter section line in the southwest quarter thereof;
thence easterly along the quarter quarter section line to
the center of the southwest quarter of said Fractional
Section 4 ; thence northerly along the quarter quarter section
line to the north line of the southwest quarter of said
Fractional Section 4; thence easterly along the quarter
section line of Fractional Section 4 to the northwest corner
of the northeast quarter of the southeast quarter of said
Fractional Section 4; thence north along the quarter quarter
section line to the north line of said Fractional Section 4;
thence easterly along the northerly line of said Fractional
Section 4 to the point of beginning, all in Township 44
North, Range 12 West, Cole County, Missouri.

WHEREAS, the City of Jefferson, Missouri, did cause to be
fled in the Circuit Court of Cole County, Missouri, in Docket
umber 27 ,174 a suit for a declaratory judgment authorizing the
nnection by the City of the unincorporated areas of land described
bove, and
WHEREAS, on the 20th day of May, 1975, the Circuit Court of
ole County, Missouri, did enter its judgment in said suit au-
thorizing the annexation into the City of the unincorporated

!areas of land described above upon the consent of a majority of
the qualified voters of the City voting at an election to be held
for such purpose in said City, the aforementioned judgment having
heretofore become final, and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Council of the City of Jefferson,
Missouri, with the consent of a majority of the legal voters of
said City voting at an election to be held for such purpose in
said City, by the passage and approval of a City Ordinance, have
power to extend the limits of the City over territory contiguous
thereto, and
WHEREAS, thereafter, by Ordinance No. 8941 of the City of
efferson, Missouri, passed by the City Council on February 7 ,
1977 , and approved by the Mayor of said City on February 10 ,
1977 , it was provided that an election be held in the City of
Jefferson, County of Cole, Missouri, on Tuesday, the 5th day of
April, 1977 , to submit to the qualified voters of the City, inter
alia, the following proposition, to-wit:
® P R O P O S I T I O N
That the corporate limits of the City of Jefferson, Missouri,
shall be extended to include the following unincorporated areas
of land contiguous to the corporate city limits :
Beginning at the northeast corner of Fractional Section 4,
Township 44 North, Range 12 West; thence southerly along the
east line of said Fractional Section 4 to the southeast
corner thereof; thence westerly along the southerly line of
said Fractional Section 4 to the centerline of the west half
of the northeast quarter of Section 9; thence southerly
along the centerline of the west half of the northeast
quarter of Section 9 to the quarter section line; thence
easterly along the quarter section line of Sections 9, 10
and 11 to the center of Section 11; thence southerly along
the quarter section line of Sections 11 and 14 to the southerl
line of Section 14 ; thence westerly along the southerly line
of Section 14; to the quarter quarter section line in the
west half of Section 14; thence northerly along the quarter
quarter section lines of Sections 14 and 11 to the northeast
corner of the southwest quarter of the southwest quarter of
Section 11; thence westerly along the quarter quarter section
lines of Sections 11, 10, 9 and 8 to the quarter section
line at the center of Section 8; thence northerly along the
quarter section line of Section 8 to the north line of
Section 8; thence easterly along the north line of Sections
8 and 9 to a point on the centerline of the southwest quarter
of the southwest quarter of Fractional Section 4; thence
northerly along the centerline of the southwest quarter of
the southwest quarter of said Fractional Section 4 to the
quarter quarter section line in the southwest quarter thereof;
thence easterly along the quarter quarter section line to
the center of the southwest quarter of said Fractional
Section 4; thence northerly along the quarter quarter section
line to the north line of the southwest quarter of said
Fractional Section 4 ; thence easterly along the quarter
section line of Fractional Section 4 to the northwest corner
of the northeast quarter of the southeast quarter of said
Fractional Section 4; thence north along the quarter quarter
section line to the north line of said Fractional Section 4;
thence easterly along the northerly line of said Fractional
Section 4 to the point of beginning, all in Township 44
North, Range 12 West, Cole County, Missouri.
WHEREAS, at said municipal election held in the City of
Jefferson, Missouri, on Tuesday, April 5, 1977 , said proposition
was submitted to the legal qualified voters of the City, and

s WHEREAS, due and legal notice was given, as required by law,

!for the holding of said municipal election on Tuesday, April 5,
1977 , for the purpose of submitting said proposition, stating
that all legal and qualified voters of the City of Jefferson,
Missouri , would be entitled and have an opportunity to vote on
aid proposition, and
WHEREAS, under the provisions of Section 77. 020, R.S. Mo. ,
he Mayor and the City Council of the City of Jefferson, Missouri,
with the consent of a majority of the legal voters of such City
oting at an election thereof, have power to extend the limits of
he City over territory adjacent thereto, and
WHEREAS, a special committee of the City Council of the City
f Jefferson, Missouri, after canvassing the votes cast at said
election of April 5 , 1977 , did report on April 19 , 1977, to the
Mayor and City Council of said City that of the votes cast by the
qualified voters of the City of the proposition hereinabove
trainst itten that 2859 votes were cast for and 639 votes were cast
said proposition, and
WHEREAS, said proposition received more than a majority of
he votes cast on said proposition at the aforementioned election.
OW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
EFFERSON, MISSOURI , AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Ordinance Number 8897 of the City of Jefferson,
Missouri , defining and declaring the boundaries of the City be,
and the same is hereby repealed.
Section 2. That the limits and boundaries of the City of
Jefferson, Missouri, are extended, defined and declared to be as
ollows, in the Counties of Cole and Callaway, in the State of
Missouri , to-wit:
Beginning in the center of the Missouri River at a point on
the extension northerly of the westerly line of Private
Survey #2680; thence southerly along the said northerly
extension and the westerly line of Private Survey #2680 to
the northeasterly corner of Section 22 , Township 44 , Range
11; thence southwesterly in a direct line to the southerly
right-of-way line of U. S. Route #50, at Station 225+00 (Mo.
Project F-1 (12) ; thence westerly along the southerly right-
of-way line of the aforementioned U. S . Route #50 to the
southerly line of Fractional Section 21, Township 44 ,
Range 11; thence west to the southwest corner of the south-
west quarter of the northwest quarter of Fractional Section
21, Township 44 , Range 11; thence south 660 feet, more or
less , along the section line to the south line of Outlot 112
and the north line of Fractional Section 20 , Township 44 ,
Range 11; thence west along the north line of Fractional
Section 20 to the east line of the northwest quarter of the
southwest quarter of Fractional Section 20, Township 44 ,
Range 11; thence south to the northeast corner of the
northwest quarter of the northwest quarter of Section 29,
Township 44 , Range 11; thence continuing south along
the east line of the northwest quarter of the
northwest quarter of said section, 660 feet; thence west par-
allel to the north line of said Section 29 to the center of
the Moreau River; thence southerly along the center of the
Moreau River to the quarter section line in Section 29 , Town-
ship 44 , Range 11; thence westerly along the quarter section
line of Sections 29 and 30 to a point that is 880 feet wester-
ly of the easterly line of Section 30; thence northerly 880
feet westerly of and parallel to the easterly line of Section
30 to a point on the easterly extension of the southerly line
of Section 24 , Township 44 , Range 12, in Section 30 , Town-
ship 44 , Range 11; thence westerly along the said easterly

Range 12, to the southwest corner of the southeast quarter of
Section 24 , Township 44 , Range 12 ; thence westerly to the

quarter of Section 23 , Township 44, Range 12; thence northerly
along the quarter quarter section lines of Sections 23 , 14 and 1
to the northeast corner of the southwest quarter of the south-

Section 4 ; thence easterly along the northerly line of said
Fractional Section 4 to the northeast corner thereof on the
Township line; thence easterly along the Township line between
Townships 44 and 45 to the southwest corner of Section 34 ,
Township 45, Range 12; thence northerly along the westerly
line of Section 34 and Fractional Section 27 , Township 45 ,
Range 12, to the northerly right-of-way line of the Missouri
Pacific Railroad Main Line; thence easterly along the north-
erly right-of-way line of the Missouri Pacific Railroad Main
Line to the northerly line of the south half of Section 35 ,
Township 45, Range 12; thence east along said quarter sec-
tion line and the extension thereof to the center of the
Missouri River on the county line between Cole County and
Callaway County; thence southeasterly along and with the
center of the Missouri River to a point on a line that
lies perpendicular to the centerline of the Missouri River
which extends to the intersection of the north bank of the
' Missouri River and the east bank of Turkey Creek (formerly
Cedar Creek) ; thence perpendicular to the centerline of
the Missouri River to the intersection of the north bank of
the Missouri River and the east bank of Turkey Creek (for-
merly Cedar Creek) ; thence northeasterly along the east
bank of Turkey Creek (formerly Cedar Creek) ; to the corpor-
ate limits of Cedar City, Missouri; thence along the
corporate limits of Cedar City, Missouri, in a counter-
clockwise direction to a point that lies 200 feet, northerly
of the present U. S. Route #63 and on the east bank of
Turkey Creek (formerly Cedar Creek) ; thence northerly and
easterly along the east and south banks of Turkey Creek
(formerly Cedar Creek) to its intersection with the south
bank of the Halifax Diversion Channel; thence southeasterly
along the south bank of the Halifax Diversion Channel,
to its intersection with the top of the bluff, said inter-
section being approximately 300 feet each of the centerline
of U. S. Route 54 and approximately 900 feet north of the
centerline of the M. K. & T. Railroad; thence continuing
southeasterly along the toe of the bluff, to the north-south
quarter-quarter section line in the west ;;,elf of Section
11, Township 44 North, Range 11 West; thence southerly

and 23 of Township 44 North, Range 11 West, to the center-
line of the Missouri. River; thence southeasterly along and
with the centerline of the Missouri River to the point of
beginning.
Section 3. This ordinance shall be in full force and effe t
from and after its date of passage and approval.
