INTRODUCED BY COUNCILMAN BRANT ORDINANCE NO. 1 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI , AMENDING THE CODE OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, 1978, BY REPEALING SECTION 16-67 AND ENACTING A NEW SECTION 16-67 IN LIEU THEREOF RELATING TO SALES TAX. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL. OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI , AS FOLLOWS : Section 1. Section 16-67 of the Code of the City of Jefferson 1978, is hereby repealed and a new Section 16-67 entitled the same Y' shall be enacted in lieu thereof to read as follows: Section 16-67. Imposed; rate; effective date and collection generally. A tax for general revenue purposes shall be imposed upon all sellers for the privilege of engaging in the business of selling tangible personal property or rendering taxalbe services at retail to the extent and in the manner provided in Sections 144.010 and 144. 510 of the Revised Statutes of Missouri , and the rules and regulations of the Director of Revenue issued pursuant thereto. The rate of the tax shall be one percent on the receipts from the sale at retail of all tangible personal property or taxable services at retail within the City, if such property and services are subject to taxation by the State under the provisions of Sections 144.010 to 144. 510 of the Revised Statutes of Missouri. The tax shall become effective as provided in Subsection 4 of Section 94. 510 of the Revised Statutes of Missouri and shall be collected as provided in Sections 94. 500 to 94. 570 of the Revised Statutes of Missouri . This section is re-enacted to comply with provisions of the Conference Committee Substitute for House Committee Substitute for Senate Committee Substitute for Senate Bills 4 Nos. 218, 235, 298, 340, and 398, as adopted by the First Regular Session of the 80th General Assembly, State of Missouri to preserve and re-enact the one percent (1%) sales tax on electricity, electric current , natural, artificial , or propane gas, wood, coal or home heating oil. . . .used for nonbusiness, noncommercial or nonindustrial purposes. Section 2. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after January 1 , 1980 and shall apply to all sales made after December 31, 1979. Passed Approved .
