OLD BUSINESS
I. Route 59/FANCATS Study.
A vote to approve the August 20
Manning - At our last meeting I was asked to draft a
letter to the Will County Board Chairman requesting that
Plainfield be included in the process of updating the
County Highway and Land Use Plans and Zoning Ordinance.
Are there any changes you would like in the draft letter
I enclosed in your packet.
Simmons - It looks fine. I think we should recommend
it to the Board of Trustees if it has not already
been mailed.
Ii. Manning - Also, I talked to the IDOT Engineer who is
doing the Preliminary Cost Study for the State on the
Route 59 underpass at the E.J.E. Railroad tracks. At
this.time they are considering buying more right-of-
way for installation of flood control berms and
widening the underpass to 68 feet. This is wide enough
for 4 twelve foot lanes and a 10 foot shoulder on each
side. They have not considered a sidewalk so far but
suggested that if,.Plainfield wanted a sidewalk to
request it in a letter to IDOT.
Gullicksen - We should get a sidewalk if possible.
Pearson - It should be on the west side if not both sides.

Bayer - I agree.
Simmons - Steve, please draft the letter for our review
at next meeting.
Manning - The public hearing is September 17, 1985 at
which time I will present a draft ordinance. In the
meantime, you can look over this chart I have prepared
for you that compares the sign regulations from various
towns.
BAISH TOWNHOUSES
Bayer - Where is the subject site?
Simmons - On the northwest side of Main Street across
from the old Railoc building. It is a vacant lot that
is between a house and an office building. It backs
up to the river and is the second lot northeast of the
bridge where Rt. 30 and Rt. 126 meet to cross the river.
Manning - When I receive the site plan I will forward
copies to you.
Simmons - Everyone on the Plan Commission should walk
the site before the public hearing September 17, 1985.
NEW BUSINESS
Simmons - I believe the Village and the School District
agree ' d to the request of the Historical Society to change
the name of Plaza Drive to Fort Beggs Drive when con-
struction was completed. Dale, would you look into
this?
It was generally agreed that ordinances that approve
rezoning, special uses, and variations should tie the
approval to a specific land use and a,specific site
plan and if possible to a limited length of time.
