AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, AMENDING CHAPTER
2 OF "THE CODE OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI," RELATING TO
THE PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION BY REPEALING SECTION 2-197,
AND ENACTING A NEW SECTION 2-197, RELATING TO THE SAME SUBJECT
IN LIEU THEREOF.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON,
MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Section 2-197 of Chapter 2 of the Code of the
City of Jefferson, Missouri, is hereby repealed.
Section 2. It is hereby enacted a new Section 2-197 which
shall read- as follows:
Section 2-197. Composition;Appointment of Members; Terms;
Removal; Vacancies; Compensation.
(a) The City Planning and Zoning Commission shall con-
sist of twelve members; three of whom shall be the
Mayor, the City Engineer or similar city official,
and one member of the City Council. The last men-
tioned shall be selected by the Council from among
its number. Nine members shall be citizens and
residents of the City qualified by knowledge or
experience to act on questions pertaining to the
development of City planning. Such citizen members
shall be appointed by the Mayor, subject to the
approval of the Council.
(b) The term of each of the citizen members of the Com-
mission shall be for four years; except, that the
terms of the citizen members first appointed shall
be for varying periods so that succeeding terms will
be staggered..
(c) The Council may remove any Commissioner who resides
in the City for cause stated in writing and after
public hearing.
(d) Appointments to fill vacancies shall be for the un-
expired term only. All members shall serve without
pay-
Section 3. This ordinance shall take effect and be in
force from and after its passage and approval.
