ORDINANCE NO. 9
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI , AMENDING THE CODE
F THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, 1978, BY REPEALING SECTION 36-43 RELATING
TO CREATING A BOARD OF ZONING ADJUSTMENT AND ENACTING A NEW
( SECTION 36-43 RELATING TO THE SAME IN LIEU THEREOF.
IBE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON,
MISSOURI , AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The Code of the City of Jefferson is hereby
amended by repealing Section 36-43 relating to creating a Board of
Zoning Adjustment and enacting a new Section 36-43 relating to the
same in lieu thereof to read as follows:
A Board of Zoning Adjustment is hereby created. Such
Board shall consist of five members, who shall be
residents. The membership of the first Board appointed
shall serve respectively, one for one year, one for two
years, one for three years, one for four years, and one
for five years. Thereafter members shall be appointed
for terms of five years each. Three alternate members
may be appointed to serve in the absence of or the
disqualification of the regular members. All members
and alternates shall be appointed by the Mayor with the
approval of the Council. All. members and alternates
shall be removable for cause by the Mayor with Council
approval upon written charges having been filed with
the Council and after a public hearing has been held
regarding these charges, a copy of the charges having
been served upon the member so charged at least ten
days prior to the hearing, either personally, or by
certified mail, or by leavin the same at his usual
place of residence. The membshall be given an
opportunity to be heard and ans. er such charges.
Vacancies shall be filled by appointment of the Mayor,
with the approval of the Council , and shall be for
the unexpired term. Alternate members shall be
appointed annually to serve for a period of one year.
Section 2. This Ordinance shall be in full force and
effect from and after the date of its passage and approval.
