HomeMy Public PortalAboutGAC Minutes 1988 08/18GOLF COURSE ADVISORY COMMITTEE August 18, 1988 Present were committee members Hormaechea, Collins, Sproat, Engen and Williamson. Also in attendance were Drips, Jackson and council member Moltke. Old Business Clubhouse: Hormaechea discussed his presentation to the city council regarding clubhouse update or redesign. Hormaechea suggested to the council the use of city labor and equipment to defer the costs of sewer and water hook-up. The council disapproved stating that equipment would not be available. New Business Committee Member Nominations: Dan Hormaechea was nominated for chairman by Collins, seconded by Sproat, all were in favor and the nomination was passed unanimously. Collins then nominated Williamson for vice-chairman, seconded by Engen, all were in favor and the nomination passed unanimously. Second on the agenda, committee members discussed importance of the golf course relation to the business community of McCall. Council member Moltke recommended that committee members encourage area businesses to write letters of support with regard to golf course activities. These letters of support would then be presented to the city council by the 1st of September. The city council members and Mayor are invited to attend the next committee meeting. Clubhouse Revision The approval of a billing from Laidlaw over revision and expenses dated July 31, 1988 was motioned by Williamson, seconded by Hormaechea and approved unanimously by committee. Benches for Course John Drips suggested to the committee a need to replace present benches on the golf course. Upon his suggestion, Drips presented a proposal by a private corporation. This company will find sponsors and construct the benches. The benches will be maintained by this same company. The construction and maintenance would be of no cost to the golf course operation. Engen made a motion to replace the benches. The motion was seconded by Collins and was passed by the committee unanimously. Golf Course Maintenance Hormaechea brought to the attention of the committee, the requirements by law to ventilate the clubhouse kitchen. A estimated cost of $10,000 toward construction of a new ventilated system would be required to bring the building up to code. The committee agreed to set aside the construction for one year with the projected construction of a new clubhouse. Improvements for fairways #3, #14, #12, and #13, with several options, will be presented to the committee at the next meeting. Sproat then discussed a proposal by the ladies association to replace the dead 150 yd. markers. The ladies association will provide a dollar amount to arrange for the replacement of the markers. Committee Meeting Schedule Charges Committee meetings have been charged from the first and third tuesdays to the second tuesdays of each month at 7:00 p.m., City Hall.
