AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI , CREATING A
DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION WITHIN AND FOR THE CITY OF JEFFERSON,
MISSOURI.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON,
MISSOURI , AS FOLLOWS :
Section 1. Created. A Department of Transportation of
the City of Jefferson is hereby created.

f Section 2. Composition. The Department of Transportation
shall be staffed with a Director, Airport Maintenance Foreman,
Tower Chief, Parking Garage Foreman and Parking Enforcement Chief.
Additional personnel may be hired as authorized by the City
Council.
Section 3. Appointment of Personnel. Personnel of the
Department of Transportation shall be appointed as follows :
A. The Director of Transportation shall be appointed by
the Mayor, upon recommendation of the City Administrator, with the
advice and consent of the City Council.
B. The Airport Maintenance Foreman, Tower Chief , Parking
i` Garage Foreman and Parking Enforcement Chief shall be appointed by
the City Administrator with the advice and consent of the City
Council. Applicants for these positions shall be interviewed by
the Director of the Transportation prior to appointment.
Section 4. Director- Qualifications; Duties. The
Director of Transportation shall be a resident of the City of

Jefferson and shall have had at least five years experience in the
transportation field. The Director of Transportation shall
supervise and coordinate the work and operation of the City Parking
Garage(s) , the Parking Authority, the Parking and Traffic
Commission, the Jefferson City Memorial Airport , the Airport
Commission, and employees working for these divisions, and shall
supervise and coordinate taxicab franchises, He shall perform

such other duties relating to city transportation as directed by
the City Administrator.
� Section 5. Department of Transportation--Duties Gcnerally.
" . A. Pending the recodification of the Code of the City
of Jefferson, 1978, the Department of Transportation and personnel
,. thereof shall supervise the enforcement of Chapter 4 and Sections
23-5 through. 23-15 and 23-107. through 23-132 of the Code of the
City of Jefferson, 1978.

B. The Departmeat of Transportation shall supervise and
coordinate the work and operation of an

commission which may hereafter be created by the City of Jefferson,
Section 6. Effective Date. This Ordinance shall be in
full force and effect from and after the date of its passage and
approval.
