AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING REGULAR CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSIONS AND
SETTING FORTH THE PROCEDURE BY WHICH SAID WORK SESSIONS MAY BE
SUSPENDED.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON,
MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS :
Section 1. The Code of the City of Jefferson, 1978, is
hereby amended by the addition of new sections , as follows , in
reference to City Council work sessions .
Section 2-18.5 - Meetings-Work Sessions .
A. There shall be regularly scheduled work sessions of
the Mayor and the City Council on the second and fourth
Monday evenings of each month. An agenda shall be drawn
by the Mayor and distributed prior to each work session, but
no official business shall transpire at these work sessions .
Official business shall be conducted only at regular or
special City Council meetings.
B. The Mayor shall preside at these work sessions , and,
in his absence, the Mayor Pro Tem shall preside. The Finance
IChairman of the City Council shall present all matters re-
lating to budget and fiscal affairs for informal discussion
and action by the Council at these work sessions .
C. The Mayor may cancel scheduled work sessions if
• there are no matters for discussion to be placed on the
agenda. A minimum of one week's notice shall be given for
any work sessions to be cancelled.
D. The Mayor shall schedule joint meetings of the City
Council with all standing citizens ' committees , commissions,
or boards on a regular basis , but no less than once per year.
These meetings will be held during the regularly scheduled
work sessions.
E . The Mayor may schedule joint meetings of the City
Council with ad hoc committees or boards as needed during

regularly scheduled work sessions .
Section 2. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect
from and after the date of its passage and approval.
