ORDINANCE N0.
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI , REPEALING
ORDINANCE NO. 9460, WHICH CREATED A DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION
WITHIN AND FOR THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, AND SUBSTITUTING A
NEW ORDINANCE THEREFOR.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON,
MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. A Department of Transportation of the City of Jefferson
is hereby created.
Section 2. The Department of Transportation shall be staffed with
a Director and other personnel according to the personnel authorization
of the budget as approved by the City Council. The Department of
Transportation shall consist of a Parking Division, an Airport Division,
and a Transit Division.
Section 3. Personnel of this Department of Transportation shall be
appointed as follows:
A. The Director of Transportation shall be appointed by the Mayor
upon recommendation of the City Administrator with the advice and
consent of the City Council.
B. All other departmental personnel shall be appointed according
to the personnel rules and regulations as adopted by the City Council.
Section 4. Qualifications - Director. The Director of Trans-
portation shall meet the minimum qualifications as described in the job
description as approved by the City Council.
Section 5. Director - Duties. The Director of Transportation shall
supervise and coordinate the work and operation of the Parking Divis-
ion, the Airport Division, the Transit Division, and employees working
for these divisions, and shall supervise and coordinate taxicab fran-
chises. The Director shall perform such other duties relating to
transportation as directed by the City Administrator. He shall be an ex
officio member of the Airport Commission and Parking and Traffic
Commission and any other advisory commissions established for the
Department of Transportation. The Director of Transportation shall
supervise and coordinate the work and operation of any port authority
or pier commission which may hereafter be created by the City of
Jefferson.
Section 6. Department of Transportation - Dutues Generally.
Pending the recodification of the Code of the City of Jefferson, 1978, the
Department of Transportation and personnel thereof shall supervise the
enforcement of Chapter 14 and Sections 23-5 through 23-15 and 23-107
through 23-132 of the Code of the City of Jefferson, 1978.
Section 7. Repealer. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in
conflict with this ordinance are hereby repealed.
Section 8. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
and after the date of its passage and approval.
