(,AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI AMENDING THE CODE 1
I�OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, 1978 , BY REPEALING SECTIONS 11-3 "SENIOR
,GOLDEN PASSES" AND 11-4 "TRANSIT SYSTEM FARES," AND ENACTING A NEW
SECTION 11-3 IN LIEU THEREOF.
'BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON,
MISSOURI AS FOLLOWS:
;I Section 1. Section 11-3. Transit System Fares.
The following shall be the fares to be charged passengers
Ifor riding the city buses :

(a) General fare. The general fare to be charged
all passengers, except those riding under other
I� provisions of this section, shall be 35¢.
(b) Children under age six. Children under the ag-e
of six years accompanied by a paying passenger
shall ride free of charge.
(c) Special student discount booklet. Any child
enrolled in any elementary, junior high or senior
! high school in Jefferson City shall be eligible
to purchase a special student discount booklet
entitling the student to 20 rides for a cost of
$6 .00 . Student booklet tickets shall be honored
only on school days between the hours of 7 :00 A.M.
(� and 4:00 P.M.
(d) Senior Golden Passes . The city, in respect to
-its citizens over sixty-five years of age, who
have helped to build this community, shall issue
senior golden passes which will entitle their
holders to ride the city buses during the off-
s peak hours for the fare of 15¢. These off-peak
hours will be from 9:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M.
The senior golden passes will be issued by the
city finance department for a period of one year,
to expire on April 30, for the price of three
dollars ($3.00) per year. To obtain such a pass,
the applicant must submit proper proof as to age
and residency in the city.
(e) Transfers . Transfers on the Jefferson City Tran-
sit System are free subject to the rules estab-
lished by the Director of the Department of
Transportation.
(f) Handicapped citizens . The fare for the demand-
response us or t e handicapped will be 70¢ per
trip. Persons requesting this service must meet
eligibility-criteria outlined in the City' s 504
Transition Plan. A doctor' s certification maybe
required. Bus service to be provided in the city
limits only.
Section 2. Charter Service Fares .
The following shall be the cost to charter a Jefferson City
Transit System bus:
Charter service is subject to vehicle and driver avail-
ability. Written requests for charter service should
be made to the Transit Supervisor. The request should

include the number of persons , pick up points
and time, destinations, and contact person with
address 'and phone number.
Charter service will not exceed a two mile limit
outside of the Jefferson City city limits. The
charge for charter service will be $40 per hour
of service time per bus per day with a $40 mini-
mum charge peribus per day. Service time will be
the time between the scheduled pick up time and
arrival at scheduled destination, excluding any
breakdown time. If more than one trip can be
scheduled during a day, then the service time
will be the accumulation of each individual
trip service time. Billing time will be to the
nearest quarter hour.
Section 3. Specials.
Special routes may be established by the Director
of the Department of Transportation when drivers
and vehicles are available, at a charge of $1.50
per route mile with a minimum charge of $40 per
day.
Section 4. Effective Dates .
a. The effective date for the new general fare,
special student discount booklet and handi-
capped citizens fare shall be November 1,
1981.
b. The effective date for the new senior citizen
fare and senior golden passes shall be May 1,
1982.
Section 5. This Ordinance shall be in full force and
effect from and after the date of its passage and approval.
