AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY, CALI-
FORNIA AMENDING AUTOMOBILE PARKING REQUIREMENTS,
ACCESS WIDTH TO DWELLING UNITS ON THE SAME LOT
AND AREA REQUIREMENTS REGARDING R 1 AND A -1 LOTS
BY AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 1494 OF THE COUNTY OF
LOS ANGELES (AS AMENDED) AS ADOPTED BY THE
CITY OF TEMPLE CITY ORDINANCE NO. 1, ARTICLE IX,
CHAPTER 1, SECTIONS 9100 AND 9101
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY DOES
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The City of. Temple City has heretofore
by Sections -9100 and 9101 of the Municipal Code adopted Ordi-
nance No. 1494 of the County of Los Angeles, as amended.
SECTION 2. Said Ordinance No. 1494 of the County
of Los Angeles, as—amended, as adopted in said Municipal Code
Section 9100 is hereby amended, added to, and repealed as set

SECTION 3. Sections 742 and 743 are hereby amended

SECTION 4. The following shall be inserted as Sec
"Section 742. RESIDENTIAL AND APARTMENT AUTOMO-
BILE PARKING REQUIREMENTS.
"Every dwelling unit, bacheior.apartment or two
guest rooms on any lot or parcel of land, in
Zones R - -1, R-2, R--A, A - -1, A•••2, A- -2- -H, R -R, R-1-P,
R-2-P, R-- -A - -P, A -1 -P and C - -1 shall have one and
one-half or more garages, carports or other
structures suitable for providing automobile
shelter, conveniently accessible and located at
a place where the erection of structures is per-
mitted. In addition thereto there shall be pro-
vided one -half parking space for each dwelling
unit or bachelor apartment situated on a lot or
parcel of land having a'frontage of less than
twenty -five (25) feet on a dedicated street."
SECTION 5. The following shall be inserted as Sec-
"Section 743. VEHICLE PARKING SPACE SIZE.
- "Nothing in Ordinance No. 1494 (as amended) wi -th.-
standing parking' space size for all automobiles
is hereby fixed at nine (9) feet by twenty (20)
feet minimum."
SECTION 6. Section 743.6 is hereby amended as follows:

SECTION 7. The following shall be inserted as Sec-
"Section 743.6 WIDTH OF ACCESS
"Access to one or more garages, carports or auto-
mobile storage spaces required by this Article
which serve one or two dwelling units shall be
not less than nine (9) feet wide at any place
therein; where three dwelling units, the access
shall be not less than sixteen .(16),feet wide at
any place therein; where four dwelling units,
the access shall be not less than twenty (20)
feet wide at any place therein."
SECTION 8. Section 724.5 is hereby added as follows:
"Section 724.5 Where the area requirement is
established to be five thousand (5,000) square
feet a person shall not use more than one build-
ing or structure, except outbuildings permitted
in Zones R -1, R -A and A -1 or any lot or parcel
of land in Zones R -1, R -A and A -1 having less than
five thousand (5,000). square feet of required area
for the first dwelling unit, and fifty -five
hundred (5,500) square feet for each additional
unit on the same lot or parcel of land. In any
case where a lot or parcel of. land .has less than
twenty -five (25) foot frontage on a dedicated
street there shall be no less than fifty -five
hundred (5,500) square feet for the first dwell-
ing unit. This section shall control in the
event of any conflict with other provisions of
this Ordinance No. 1494 (as amended)."
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City
of Temple City at a regular meeting thereof held on the 12th
day of December 1960, by the following called vote:
AYES: Councilmen- Buchan, Dickason, Merritt $ Fitzjohn
NOES: Councilmen -None
ABSENT: Councilmen- Tyrell
