AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI , AMENDING
ORDINANCE NO. 9626, PERTAINING TO PERSONNEL RULES AND REGULATIONS,
BY ADDING TWO NEW SUBSECTIONS PERTAINING TO PERFORMANCE
EVALUATIONS AND SALARY ADVANCEMENTS.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON,
MISSOURI , AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Ordinance No. 9626 is hereby amended by enacting two
new subsections to the Personnel Rules and Regulations which shall read
as follows:
!k Section 9.2(c). Department heads shall have the authority to
give employees merit increases after a period of nine months has
elapsed since their previous merit increases. This exception to the
i one year waiting period allows department heads some discretion to
reward outstanding performance by employees. The funds to pay
for any early increases granted shall come from the merit money
amount established for the department with the adoption of the
is budget.

Section 9.2(d) . Department heads shall have the authority to
give employees who have reached the final step in their pay range
a 21% merit increase for performance which is considerably above
standard. Longevity on the job does not constitute "performance
!; considerably above standard." Employees may receive subsequent
21% merit increases based upon the final step in their pay range

if performance warrants. The funds to pay for any of these merit
f increases shall come from the merit money amount established for
the department with the adoption of the budget. This type of merit
! increase shall be treated as a special pay allowance and will not !
affect other special pay and allowances in any way. For example,
Ii the computation of overtime pay or holiday pay. This pay shall be
!� subject to deductions for income tax, Social Security, and LAGERS.

SECTION 2. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
11 and after its passage and approval.
