Rig- :ANTRODUCED BY COUNCILMAN ._�.�. } ORDINANCE NO. �I AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, REPEALING �IORDINANCE NO. 9721 WHICH AUTHORIZES ESTABLISHMENT OF A REWARD FUND FOR THE PURPOSE OF PAYING REWARDS TO INDIVIDUALS FOR SUPPLY- II ING INFORMATION TO AID IN THE PROSECUTION OF INDIVIDUALS FOR ,' DESTRUCTION OF PUBLIC PROPERTY, AND ENACTING A NEW ORDINANCE it PERTAINING TO THE SAME SUBJECT MATTER. WHEREAS, the City Council did pass Ordinance No. 9721 which authorized the establishment of a reward fund to aid in the prosecution !I ' ,j of individuals who violate the provisions of Section 26-52 of the Code of f! lithe City of Jefferson; and f ti WHEREAS, several rewards have been paid to citizens making J reports leading to prosecutions and convictions of persons violating Section 26-52 of the Code of the City of Jefferson; and jI WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to continue this reward fund } while giving some flexibility in the amount of the awards relative to the extent of the violations committed; i NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Ordinance No. 9721 is hereby repealed. Section 2. A reward will be paid to any individual or individuals supplying information which is used in the prosecution of violations of i P Section 26-52 of the Code of the City of Jefferson, provided such information supplied directly leads to the conviction of the person charged. if two or more people supply information correctly leading to the conviction, the reward will be divided equally between the in- formants. Rewards will be paid upon the conviction of the individual or individuals charged. The exact amount of the reward will be determined f by the City Administrator upon the recommendations of the Chief of I Police and the Director of the Public Works Department, and shall not be I less than one hundred dollars ($100.00) and not more than two hundred fifty dollars ($250.00) . The recommendations shall be based upon the extent and severity of the violation of Section 26-52. SSection 3. The City and its employees will keep confidential the , �I identity of any informant unless testimony of the informant is deemed necessary for the successful prosecution of the offense, or unless otherwise ordered by a court. IJ { Section 4. Rewards shall be paid only from Account Number 16-332 i as established in the Municipal Court budget. If payments for rewards ' {� exhaust the amount appropriated for that purpose, no further rewards '1 will be paid unless authorized by supplemental appropriations. Section 5.
