HomeMy Public PortalAboutOrdinance 60-24 Regulations relating to use of Las Tunas during Kiwanis Club March of Dimes Campaign1 1 1 ORDINANCE NO. 60 -2L AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY CHANGING TRAFFIC REGULATIONS RELATIVE TO THE INTERSECTION AT LAS TUNAS DRIVE AND TEMPLE CITY BOULEVARD ON JANUARY 20, 1961, BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 2 :00 P. M. AND 6:00 P. M. ONLY, AND GRANTING CERTAIN LIMITED STREET USE ON LAS TUNAS DRIVE FOR THE TEMPLE CITY KIWANIS CLUB MARCH OF DIMES CAMPAIGN, AND CERTAIN LIMITED SOUND CAR USE IN CONNECTION WITH THE "MOTHERS MARCH" OF THE MARCH OF DIMES CAMPAIGN IN TEMPLE CITY. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Nothing in the Temple City Municipal Code withstanding, the City Manager of the City of Temple City is hereby authorized and directed to close the two left -turn •- turn-out lanes on Las Tunas Drive at the intersection of Las Tunas Drive and Temple City Boulevard, Temple City, California, on January 20, 1961, between the hours of 2 :00 p. m. and 6 :00 p. m. only. SECTION 2. Permission is hereby granted to the Kiwanis Club of Temple City to have any of its adult members occupy the left-turn - turn -out lanes as described in SECTION 1 above, be- tween the hours of 2 :00 p. m. and 6 :00 p. m. only, on the said January 20, 1961, for the purpose of conducting a March of Dimes campaign. SECTION 3. Traffic flow, as controlled by the signal lights, at the said intersection of Las Tunas Drive and Temple City Boulevard shall not be interrupted or interfered with except for such reasonable interference as the said March of Dimes collection shall occasion during the aforesaid four -hour period. SECTION 4. No minors shall be permitted to be in the said left -turn •• turn -out lanes at any time. SECTION 5. The Temple City Kiwanis Club is hereby granted permission to conduct a March of Dimes campaign upon the public sidewalks on the north side of Las Tunas Drive be- tween Camellia and Primrose Avenues between the hours of 2 :00 p. m. and 6 :00 p. m. only, on Friday, January 20, 1961, said use of the afore - described sidewalks to consist in part of a line of dimes to be affixed to an adhesive -type tape. SECTION 6. Nothing in the Temple City Municipal Code withstanding, Jacob Gunst is hereby granted permission ®m Tuesday, January 31, 1961, between the hours of 6 :30 p. m. and 8 :00 p. m. only, to use a public address system from a motor vehicle for the sole purpose of assisting and aiding in the "Mothers March" held in connection with the Temple City March of Dimes campaign. -1- 57 SECTION 7. This ordinance is hereby declared to be for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health and safety and is being enacted to take effect immediately in ac- cordance with section 36937 of the Government Code of Califor- nia. The City Council of the City of Temple City expressly finds that the March of Dimes campaign is of great value to the people of Temple City; that encouraged by the successful research in Polio the National Foundation and March of Dimes has entered into two vital health concerns to the people of Temple City, that of bt rth defects and arthritis and the use of the public streets and sidewalks of the City of Temple City in the limited manner permitted will contribute to the benefit of the National Foundation and March of Dimes and ultimately to the people of the City of Temple City.
