AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
RICHLAND HILLS, TEXAS CANVASSING AND DECLARING THE
RESULTS OF THE NOVEMBER 6, 2018 SPECIAL ELECTION FOR A
PROPOSITION TO DETERMINE WHETHER THE VOTERS DESIRE
TO IMPOSE A SALES AND USE TAX AT THE RATE OF THREE-
EIGHTS OF ONE PERCENT (3/8%) TO PROVIDE REVENUE FOR THE
MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR OF EXISTING MUNICIPAL STREETS
AND A PROPOSITION TO INCREASE THE SALES AND USE TAX FOR
THE BENEFIT OF THE TYPE B ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
CORPORATION FROM THE RATE OF ONE-EIGHTH PERCENT (1/8%)
TO TWO-EIGHTHS PERCENT (2/8%); AND PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Richland Hills, Texas is a home rule city acting under its charter
adopted by the electorate pursuant to Article XI, Section 5 of the Texas Constitution and Chapter
9 of the Local Government Code; and
WHEREAS, a special election was held in the City on November 6, 2018 on the
propositions listed below; and
WHEREAS, the official results tabulated by Tarrant County are attached as Exhibit "A."
WHEREAS, the City Council has met and canvassed the votes in such election on
November 15, 2018; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF RICHLAND HILLS, TEXAS:
SECTION 1.
The tabulation of votes cast in the special election, made and certified by the City
Secretary, a copy of which is attached to and made part of this Ordinance, is adopted as the
official tabulation of votes cast at the election. The official canvass of the returns of the election
reflects the following votes cast:

Proposition A
Number of Votes
The adoption of a local sale and use tax FOR 1691
in the City of Richland Hills at the rate of
three-eighths of one percent (3/8%) to provide AGAINST 636
for maintenance and repair of municipal streets.
Total number of votes cast: 2327
Proposition B
The adoption of a sales and use tax for the
benefit of the Richland Hills Type B Economic
Development Corporation for projects FOR 1500
previously approved by the qualified voters
of the City of Richland Hills and to include
public park purposes, community facilities,
related maintenance and cost of operation of AGAINST 818
publically owned projects, and the promotion of
new and expanded business enterprises at the rate
of two-eighths percent (2/8%).
Total number of votes cast: 2318
The number of votes by which Proposition A passed 1055.
The number of votes by which Proposition B passed 682.
SECTION 2.
The City Manager and the City Secretary are authorized and directed to take all actions
necessary and required by law to provide notice of the passage of this proposition and to
implement the street maintenance tax.
SECTION 3.
This Ordinance shall be effective upon its adoption, and it is so ordained.

the results of the Richland Hills November 6, 2018 Special Election as the same
