Minutes of Meeting
February 6, 1987
The meeting came to order at 8:10 A.M.
Present were Don Medley, Bill. Mockowitr, Max Williamson, John Drips, Irian Mickels,
Bud Schmidt and newly appointed Golf Clubhouse Architect, Andy Lai.dlaw.
Mickels opened the discussion regarding a "Minor and Major" project work list for
the upcoming season at the Golf Course. A list of items that were issued at the
December Committee meeting, were to be discussed, added to and prioritized. It
was felt that this should be reviewed this month and finalized in the March meeting.
Bud Schmidt introduced Andy Laidlaw to the Committee as the new Golf Clubhouse
Architect. Discussion was then introduced to form a committee from representative
city groups that would meet with the Golf Committee on the clubhouse matter. These
representative groups might include, but not limited to, Recreation Committee,
Chamber of Commerce, City Council Representative, etc. When this committee is
formed, the regular scheduled Golf Committee meetings will include a designated
time interval for discusssion and action regarding the clubhouse matter.
John Drips next discussed possible marketing ideas for the Golf season. Some of
the ideas presented were:
1. Get KTVB Channel 7 to use McCall Golf Course video in their "Idaho Scenes" spots;
2. Media day at the golf course;
3. The addition of a tournament to fill some slack time in the Fall season.
Brian Mickels expressed the need to dispose of some Golf Course Surplus equipment.
He suggested placing classified ads in the Southern Idaho Golf Course Superintendent's
Association (SIGCSA) Newsletter. Mickels proposed that at the March meeting he
would bring copies of the updated equipment inventory, and at that time, the
Committee could recommend action on this matter.
Andy Laidlaw discussed some of the early preliminary work he has done regarding
the clubhouse site area. He requested, however, he would like to get together with
committee members to discuss basic wants and needs, and to outline traffic and
player flows. John Drips scheduled a meeting with Andy to discuss some of these
items.
The meeting adjourned at 9:00 A.M.
