HomeMy Public PortalAboutORD07108 Willcoxen Kliegel ORDINANCE NO. 7108 AN ORDINANCE AMINDING ORDINANCE N0. 6760 of THE CITY OF JEFFERSON„ MISSOURI, RELATING TO THE KEEPING OF DOGS AND OTHER ANIMALS, BY REPEALING SECTION 25 OF SAID ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE IMPOSITION OF AN ABSOLUTE QUARANTINE BY MAYORAL PROCLAMATION, AND ENACTING A NEW SECTION 25 OF SAID ORDINANCE NO. 6760 RELATING TO THE SAME SUBJECT MATTER. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI$ AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 25 of Ordinance No. 6760 of the City of Jefferson, Missouri$ relating to the keeping of dogs and other animals beg a1 d it is hereby$ repealed. Section 2. There is hereby enacted an ordinance to be known as Section 25 of Ordinance No. 6760 which relates generally to the keeping of dogs and other animals, which ordinance shall read in words and figures as follows: Ordinance No. 6760 "Section 25. Quarantine* Whenever the Mayor shall deem it necessary$ because of the prevalence of rabies among the animal population of the city, county or state, strict quarantine may be placed on all dogs, cats and all other domesticated animals in the City. Upon such proclamation by the Mayor, all dogs, cats and other domesticated animals shall be confined in the owner' s home, securely penned, tied up or placed on a leash and under the direct physical control of of a competent person at least fifteen (15) years of agem Any dog, cat or other domesticated animal found otherwise shall be impounded., -or if impossible to capture shall be shot and killed by the Humane Officer or any police officer of the city.
