VETO
I am vetoing Ordinance 01-3 because it is self serving and could be expensive to the
cit/zens of Carteret. If the Mayor and every Council member along with the Attorney and
Public Defender were to accept family benefits the expense to the taxpayers would be
over $100,000. That equals one tax point or $12 to every taxpayer in Carteret. In a year
- that you are looking at a $.08 tax increase it is unconscionable that this Council would
choose to be so self serving instead of having the best interests of the taxpayer at heart.
You do not mn for public office to serve yourself, you mn to serve the people.

AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING BENEFITS FOR
CERTAIN BOROUGH EMPLOYEES
BE, IT ORDAINED by the Borough Council of the Borough of Carteret (the
"Borough") that chapter 38, Personnel Policies, of the Code of the Borough of Carteret, is
hereby amended by adding a subsection B. to section 38-19, eligible employees; which
shall read in it's entirety as follows:
"B. The Mayor and Borough Council, the Borough Attorney and the Borough
Public Defender shall be entitled to receive medical health insurance, identical to that
offered to all other Borough employees; paid for by the Borough of Carteret."
BE, IT, FURTHER, ORDAINED that this Ordinance shall be effective January 1,
2001.
BE, IT FURTHER ORDAINED that this Ordinance shall be advertised as prescribed
by law.
