AN ORDINANCE CREATING THE POSITION OF SPECIAL DEPUTY CITY r ' CLERICS, PROVIDING THE NUMBER TIiEREOF, DEFINING THE METIIOD OF s SELECTION AND APPOINTMENT, THEIR OATH OF OFFICE AND COMPENSATION, THEIR TERM OF OFFICE AND DUTIES. ICE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF TIIE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1 . There is hereby established the position of special deputy city clerk. Six special deputy city clerks shall be appointed by the Mayor after their elecion in the manner hereinafter provided. Section 2. All special deputy city clerks shall take the same oath of office prescribed by ordinance for the City r. Clerk. Such oath shall be administered by the Police Judge of the City of Jefferson, Missouri . Section 3. All special deputy city clerks shall serve I without any salary or compensation. Their term of office shall begin as soon as they have had their oath of office administered and their term of office shall expire at 6 :00 p.m. on Monday, ;>. April 1, 1963. Section 4. The special deputy city clerks shall perform the following duties: _:.;:: r: (a) To receive applications for absentee ballots ' . to be voted in the general municipal election in the City of Jefferson, Missouri, on April 2, 1963. (b) To deliver said applications to the City Clerk of `.: the City of Jefferson, Missouri so that the names of the applicants may be posted as is prescribed by law. (c) To receive the official absentee ballots and envelopes and all instructions required by law from the City Clerk and to deliver the same in person to the applicant therefor for execution Alk by the applicant in the manner provided by law. (d) Upon proper execution of the absentee ballot P P P as required by law, to render such assistance as may be requested by the absentee voter in mailing said absentee ballot to the City Clerk. Section 6 . The Chairmen of the Democratic City Committee and of the Republican City Committee shall each select not more than three persons suitable to serve as deputy special city clerks for the purposes provided in the preceding section of this ordinance. They shall furnish a list of the names of said persons to be selected to the City Clerk of said City by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 20, 1963. Section 7 . Any person elected to be a special deputy city clerk shall be a resident of the City of Jefferson, Missouri and entitled to vote at the April 2, 1963 general city election. Section 8.
