Jorss, CQU,ncilman Haar nominated Morris Slotin,after some discussion Coumcilmarld*ed that the nominations be closed, Councilman Logan seconded, Councilman Young called for a recess of five minutes., after the Mayor called Council to order, and called for a vote for Roland R.Jones, those voting yes; Logan, those voting no,; Young, May, Haar. The Mayor then called for a vote. for Morris Slotin, those voting, yes; Young, May and Haar, those voting, no; Logan. Mr. Slotin was immediately sworn in as Co-Ancilma.n, by Mr. J.Gordon Miller,jr., who administered the following oath him, OATH. . The regtl.r meeting of Council was held to -day at 4:30 p.m., in the Council Chamber, at Butler Avenue and Fifteenth Street, and Was attended by Mayor, who presided, and Councilmen Logan, Slotin, Lovell, Young, Haar, and May, and Ton Attorney Dutton. The minutes of the meetings of August 4th, 14th and September let and 12th were read and adopted. The Committee on Town Hall submitted a report that the cost of furnishings fc-ir the Town Hall would amount to $426.11, which does not include completeing the heating system, Councilman Slotin moved that t„e necessary furnishings.ibe purchased and that the heating system be completed, the cost to remain with - in the estimate, Councilman Logan seconed and the motion passed. The Mayor informed Council that in the proposed reorgt.nazation of the Police Department, whereby it was intended to cut off one of the policemen, that both officers Veronee and Smith had agreed to have their salaries reduced to $75.00 per month, each, effective November 1st. Councilman Logan moved that three police officers be retained for the remainder of the fiscal year, and that the salaries of officers Veronee and Smith be reduced to $75.00 per month, each, effective November lst,1939, Councilman Young seconded tT°nd the motion passed. Councilman Logan moved that the salary of J.A.Bergman, Asst. Supt of Public be reduced to $100.00 per month, effective November 1st, 1939, Councilman Younr seconded and the motion passed. Councilman Logan moved that Mtta, W.J.Bryan be permitted to remain in the house now occupied by her until December 1st, 1939, Councilman Haar seconded and the motion passed.
