AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, REGULATING
HE PARKING OF MOTOR VEHICLES ON THE ROADWAYS OF THIS CITY,
PRESCRIBING A PRESUMPTION THAT ANY VEHICLE, PARKED IN VIOLATION
F THE ORDINANCE, WAS PARKED BY THE OWNER THEREOF, AND
ROVIDING A PENALTY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON,
ISSOURI
Section 1. Parking vehicles prohibited. The operator
f a vehicle shall not park the same at any place within the
described limits on the following-named roadways, or the part
hereof hereinafter specifically designated:
(A) On the west shoulder of U.S. Highway 54
between Cole County Highway "C" and the
south city limits line.
(b) On the west half of Monroe Street within
15 feet north or south of the public alley
lying midway between and extending parallel
with McCarty Street and Miller Street.
Section 2. Presumption to apply. In any prosecution
or a violation of any provision of Section 1, proof that
the vehicle described in the complaint was parked in violation
of any provision of Section 1, together with proof that the
defendant named in the complaint was at the time of such
parking the owner of the vehicle, shall constitute in evidence
prima facie presumption that the owner of the vehicle
as the person who parked the vehicle at the point where, and
for the time during which, such violation occurred.
Section 3. Penalty. Any person violating any of the
® provisions of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a
misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof shall be fined
of more than $100.00 or be imprisoned in jail for not more
than 90 days, or be punished both by such fine and imprisonment.
Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from
and after its passage and approval.
