HomeMy Public PortalAboutORD07448 i +� BILL N0. r INTRODUCED BY COUNCILMEN : Jobe, Riner, Scrivner and Willcoxon I � i ORDINANCE N0. c2 i AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, REGULATING THE PARKING OF MOTOR VEHICLES ON THE ROADWAYS OF THIS CITY, PROVIDING A PRESUMPTION THAT ANY VEHICLE PARKED IN VIOLATION OF THE ORDINANCE WAS PARKED BY THE OWNER THEREOF, AND PROVIDING , A PENALTY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1 . Parking vehicles prohibited. The operator of a vehicle shall not park the same at any time at any place within the described limits of the designated portion of the j following-named roadway: (5) On the south half of High Street between two points located 148 feet and 164 feet east of the east curb of Marshall Street. Section 2. One hour parking. The operator of a vehicle shall not park the same for a period of time in excess of one hour between the hours of 7 :00 A.M. and 7 :00 P.M. , on any day except Sunday or any legal holiday, at any place within the limits described on the designated portions of the following-named roadways: (5) On the south half of High Street between Jackson Street and Lafayette Street, excluding an area between two points located 148 feet and 164 feet east of the east curb of Marshall Street. (10) On the north half of High Street between Jackson Street and Marshall Street, excluding an area between two points located 184 feet and 268 feet east of the east curb of Jackson Street. (15) On the north half of High Street between two points located 20 feet and 112 feet east of the east curb of Adams Street. Section 3. Two hour parking. The operator of a vehicle shall not park the same for a period of time in excess of two hours, between the hours of 7 :00 A.M. and 7 :00 P.M. on any day, except Sunday or any legal holiday, at any place within the described limits of the following-named roadways, or any designated portion thereof I I 1 1 (5) On the west half of Monroe Street !+ between McCarty Street and Miller Street. (10) On the east half of Monroe Street between Miller Street and a point located 96 feet south of the south curb of McCarty Street. (15) On the north half of High Street between Marwhall Street and Lafayette Street. Section 4. Reserved parking. The operator of a vehicle shall not park the same at any time between the hours on any day specified hereinafter at any place within the described limits of the following-named roadway unless expressly authorized hereinafter: (5) Between the hours of 7 :00 A.M. and 7 :00 P.M. on any day except Sunday or any legal holiday, on the north half of High Street between two points located 184 feet and 268 feet east of the east curb of Jackson Street, provided that persons visiting the Medical Arts Building may park a vehicle within said area . Section 5. Presumption to apply. In any prosecution for a violation of any section of this ordinance, proof that the vehicle described in the complaint was parked in vblation of any section of this ordinance, together with proof that the defendant named in the complaint was at the time of such parkin I the owner of the vehicle shall constitute in evidence a prima facie presumption that the owner of the vehicle was the person who parked the vehicle at the point where, and for the time during which, such violation occurred. Section 6 . Penalty. Any person violating any of the provisions of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a mis- demeanor, and upon conviction thereof shall be fined not mor(. than $100.00 or be imprisoned in jail for not more than 90 days, or be punished both by such fine and imprisonment. Section 7 . Effective date.
