AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON , MISSOURI, REPEALING
SUBSECTION 20 OF SECTION 1 .480 AND SUBSECTIONS 335 AND 340
OF SECTION 1.530 OF ORDINANCE NUMBER 7344 OF THE CITY, REGULATING
THE PARKING OF MOTOR VEHICLES ON JEFFERSON STREET, AND ENACTING
A NEW ORDINANCE RELATING TO THE SAME SUBJECT AND PROVIDING
A PENALTY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON,
MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1 . Subsection 20 of Section 1 .480 and Subsections
335 and 340 of Section 1 .530 of Ordinance Number 7344 of the
City, regulating the parking of motor vehicles on Jefferson
Street within this city be, and the same are hereby, repealed.
Section 2. Parking vehicles prohibited. The operator
of a vehicle shall not park the same at any place within
the described limits on the following-named roadways :
(a) On the west half of Jefferson Street
between the south curb of Miller Street
and a point 300 feet south of the centerline
of the Whitton Expressway.
(b) On the east half of Jefferson Street south,
and within 200 feet, of the centerline of
the Whitton Expressway.
Section 3. Presumption to apply. In any prosecution
for a violatbn of any provision of Section 2, proof that the
vehicle described in the complaint was parked in violation of
any provision of Section 2, together with proof that the
defendant named in the complaint was at the time of such parking
the owner of the vehicle, shall constitute in evidence a prima
facie presumption that the owner of the vehicle was the person
who parked the vehicle at the point where, and for the time
during which, such violation occurred.
® Section 4. Penalty. Any person violating any of the
provisions of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a
misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof shall be fined not
more than $100 .00 or be imprisoned in jail for not more than
90 days, or be punished both by such fine and imprisonment.
Section 5 . Effective date. This ordinance shall take
effect and be ' n force from an after its passage and approval.
