HomeMy Public PortalAboutORD07557 BILL NO. .,..: L� INTRODUCED BY COUNCILMEN: HAWES and SKAIN ORDINANCE NO. 7 S 5-7 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, ESTABLISHING A SCHOOL BUS ZONE IN THE CITY AND REGULATING THE PARKING OF MOTOR VEHICLES THEREIN, PROVIDING A PRESUMPTION THAT RY VEHLCLE PARKED THEREIN IN VIOLATION OF THE ORDINANCE WAS PARKED BY THE OWNER THEREOF, AND PROVIDING A PENALTY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS : Section 1. School Bus Zone . The operator of a vehicle, other than a school us, shall not park the same at any time between the hours on any day hereinafter specified, at any place within the specified limits of the following-named roadway: (5) Thorpe Gordon School - On the east half of Jackson Street south and within 50 feet of the south curb of Woodlawn Street between the hours of 7 :00 A.M. and 4:00 P.M. between Monday and Friday inclusive, when Thorpe Gordon School is attended by school children. Section 2. Presumption to a 1 . In any prosecution for a violation of any provision of e`ction 1, proof that the vehicle described in the complaint was parked in violation of any provision of Section 1, together with proof that the defendant named in the complaint was at the time of such parking the owner of the vehicle, shall constitute in evidence a prima facie presumption that the owner of the vehicle was the person who parked the vehicle at the point where, and for the time during which, such violation occurred. Section 3. Penalty. A person violating any of the provisions of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof shall be fined not more than $100.00 or be imprisoned in jail for not more than 90 days, or be punished both by such fine and imprisonment.
