ORDINANCE NO. _ l
AN ORDINANCE CREATING THE POSITION OF SPECIAL DEPUTY CITY
CLERKS, PROVIDING THE NUMBER THEREOF, DEFINING THE METHOD OF
SELECTION AND APPOINTMENT, THEIR OATH OF OFFICE AND COMPENSATION,
THEIR TERM OF OFFICE AND DUTIES.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON,
MLSSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1 . There is hereby established the position of
special deputy city clerk. Fourl special deputy city clerks
shall be appointed by the Mayor after their selection as
provided herein.
Section 2. Special deputy city clerks shall take the
oath of office prescribed by ordinance for the City Clerk. Sudi
oath shall be administered by the Police Judge of the City
of Jefferson, Missouri .
Section 3. Special deputy city clerks shall serve without
salary. The terms of office shall begin as soon as they tape
the oath of office. Their term of office shall expire at
6 :00 p.m. on Monday, November 16, 1964.
Section 4. The special deputy city clerks shall perform
the following duties :
(a) Receive applications for absentee ballots to
be voted in the special city election held in
the second ward of the City of Jefferson,
Missouri, on November 171 1964.
(b) Deliver the applications to the City Clerk of
the City of Jefferson, Missouri. so that the names
of the applicants may be posted as is prescribed �
by law.
(c) Receive the official absentee ballots and envelopes
and all instructions required by law from the
City Clerk and to deliver the same in person to
the applicant therefor for execution by the
applicant in the manner provided by law.
(d) Upon proper execution of the absentee ballot
as required by law, to render such assistance as
may be requested by the absentee voter in mailing
said absentee ballot to the City Clerk.
Section-5. The Chairmen of the Democratic and Republican
City Committees shall each select two persons to serve as deputy
special city clerks for the purposes provided in this ordinance.
They shall furnish the names of the persons selected to the Clerk
of said City by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 10, 1964.
Section 6 . Any person appointed as a special deputy city
clerk shall be a resident of the City of Jefferson, Missouri .
Section 7 . This ordinance shall take effect and be in
force from and after its passage and approval .
