AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, REPEALING
SECTION 356 OF THE REVISED ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF
JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, 1956, PRESCRIBING THE DUTIES OF THE
COMMITTEE ON ACCOUNTS, CLAIMS AND CITY OFFICERS AND ENACTING A
NEW ORDINANCE RELATING TO THE SAME SUBJECT
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON,
MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1 . Section 356 of the Revised Ordinances of
the City of Jefferson, Missouri, is hereby repealed.
Section.2. There is hereby enacted a new ordinance to be
known as Section 356 of the Revised Ordinances of the City of
Jefferson, Missouri, 1956, defining the duties of the committee
on accounts, claims and city officers, providing as follows:
"Section 356 . Duties of committee on accounts
claims and cit o facers. The uties of he
committee on accounts, claims and city officers
are hereby defined and declared to be as follows:
First. To examine into and report to the Mayor
and Council upon any bills or account against the
city referred to it for investigation within 15
days of the date of referral .
Second. To take into consideration all reports,
resolutions or propositions respecting the salary
or fees attaching to any office, or which may relate
to the creation of new offices or the abolition of
® any existing office, or which affect or relate to
the conduct of any officer, his bond, or the manner
in which his duties are performed, that may be
referred to them by the council for investigation
and report, and said committee shall make such
investigation and report whenever so required by the
council . Said committee shall, at all times,
have free access to any city office and may at any
time inspect the books, papers and records thereof.
Whenever, in their judgment, the public interest
may require it, they shall make an inspection of the
city officers and report to the mayor and council
any violation of the ordinances of the city for
neglect of duty, which they may discover on behalf
of any city officer."
Section 3. This ordinance shall take effect and be in

force from and after its passage and approval .
