AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, REGULATING
THE PARKING OF MOTOR VEHICLES WITHIN THE CITY, PROVIDING A
PRESUMPTION AND PRESCRIBING A PENALTY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON,
MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Two Hour Parking. The operator of a vehicle
shall not park the same for a period of time in excess of
two hours between 8:00 A.M. and 5 :00 P.M. on any day, other
than Sunday or a legal holiday, at any place on the south half
of High Street between a point located 130 feet east of the
east curb of Adams Street and Jackson Street.
Section 2. Presumption to apply. In any prosecution
for a violation of any provision of Section 1, proof that
the vehicle described in the complaint was parked in violation
of any provision of Section 1, together with proof that the
defendant named in the complaint was at the time of such
parking the owner of the vehicle, shall constitute in evidence
a prima facie presumption that the owner of the vehicle was
the person who parked the vehicle at the point where, and
for the time during which, such violation occurred.
Section 3. Penalty. A person violating any of the
provisions of this or i.nance shall be deemed guilty of a
misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof shall be fined not
more than $100 .00 or be imprisoned in jail for not more than
90 days, or be punished both by such fine and imprisonment.
Section 4. Effective date. This ordinance shall take
effect and be in- force fr-o-m—a-77 after its passa e and approval.
