AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI , REGULATING THE
PARKING OF MOTOR VEHICLES ON WEST MAIN STREET BETWEEN MULBERRY
STREET AND CLAY STREET AND PROVIDING A PENALTY, AND REPEALING
SUBPARAGRAPH (20) of PARAGRAPH (A) OF SUBSECTION (2) of SECTION
1.430 OF ORDINANCE NUMBER 7344 OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI
AUTHORIZING ANGLE PARKING ON WEST MAIN STREET.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON,
MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS :
Section 1 . Parallel Parking Required. The operator of a
vehicle shall park the same with the right side thereof parallel
to, and within one foot of, the curb or curbline on West Main
Street when the vehicle is parked at any point on West Main Street
between the extended west curb line of Mulberry Street and the
® east curbline of Clay Street.
Section 2 . Presumption to Apply. In a prosecution for a
violation of Section 1 hereof, proof that the vehicle described
in the complaint was parked in violation, together with proof
that the defendant named in the complaint wast atthe time of
such parking the owner of the vehicle, shall constitute in
evidence a prima facie presumption that the owner of the vehicle
was the person who parked same at the point where, and for the
time during which, such violation occurred.
Section 3 . Any person violating Section 1 of this ordinance
shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction
thereof shall be fined not more than $100.00 or be imprisoned
not longer than 90 days or be punished both by such fine and
imprisonment.
Section 4. Repeal Clause. Subparagraph (20) of Paragraph
(A) of Subsection 2 of Section 1.430 of Ordinance Number 7334
of the City, authorizing the parking of motor vehicles at an
angle in certain areas- of West Main Street within the city be,
and the same is hereby, repealed.
Section 5. Effective Date . Upon its passage and approval,
this ordinance shall take effect and be in force as soon as
the Street Commissioner either erects appropriate parallel
parking signs or repaints the parking spaces to advise the
public that parallel parking is required on Main Street in the
areas mentioned in Section 1 hereof.
