ORDINANCE NO. 7(4,/, / AN ORDINANCE OF TIIE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, REGULATING THE PARKING OF MOTOR VEHICLES ON THE ROADWAYS OF THE CITY, PROVIDING A PRESUMPTION THAT ANY MOTOR VEHICLE PARKED IN VIOLATION OF THIS ORDINANCE WAS PARKED BY THE OWNER THEREOF, AND PROVIDING A PENALTY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1, Parking Vehicles Prohibited. The operator of a vehicle shall not park the same at any point or place within the areas described on the following-named roadways: (5) On the south half of McCarty Street between Fulkerson and Brooks Streets. (10) On the east half of Brooks Street between McCarty and Miller Streets. Section 2. Presumption to Apply. In any prosecution for any violation of any of the provisions of Section 1 hereof, proof that the vehicle parked in the complaint was parked in violation of a provision of Section 1, together with proof that the defendant named in the complaint was at the time of such parking, the owner of the vehicle, shall constitute in evidence a prima facie presumption that the owner of the vehicle was the person who parked the vehicle at the point where, and for the time during which, such violation occurred. Section 3. Penalty. Any person violating any of the provisions of this ordinan e shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof, shall be fined not more than $100. 00 or be imprisoned in jail for not longer than 90 days, or be punished by both such fine and imprisonment. Section 4. Effective Date. Upon its passage and approval this ordinance shall be in force and take effect as soon as the Street Commissioner advises the public that the parking of vehicles in the areas specified in Section 1 hereof is prohibited by the erection of appropriate signs or the painting of curbs. /� �/� G" ✓ Passed: Approved: Pr si ent of the Council V Mayor Attest: h16"W4 City Cler
