ORDINANCE NO. 3
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI REGULATING
THE PARKING OF MOTOR VEHICLES WITHIN THE CITY, PROVIDING A
PRESUMPTION AND PRESCRIBING A PENALTY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON,
MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Two hour parking zone. The operator of a vehicle shall
not park the same for a period of time in excess of two hours between
8:00 A.M, and 5:00 P.M. , on any day except Sunday or a legal holiday
at any point on the south half of the right of way of U. S. Highway 50
West (Dunklin Street) lying between the east line of Virginia Street and
a point 72 feet east of the east line of Virginia Street.
Section 2. Presumption to apply. In any prosecution for a violation
of Section 1, proof that the vehicle described in the complaint was
Aparked in violation of Section 1, together with proof that the defendant
named in the complaint was at the time of such parking the owner of the
vehicle, shall constitute in evidence a prima facie presumption that the
owner of the vehicle was the person who parked the vehicle at the point
where, and for the time during which, such violation occurred.
Section 3, Penalty. A person violating this ordinance shall be
deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof shall be
fined not more than $100.00 or be imprisoned in jail for not more than
90 days, or be punished both by such fine and imprisonment.
Section 4. Effective Date. This ordinance shall take effect and be
in force from and after its passage and approval.
