HomeMy Public PortalAboutORD07794 BILL NO. � INTRODUCED BY COUNCILMAN: V 1I �.�- ✓ ORDINANCE NO. _11J1 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, CREATING THE POSITION OF SPECIAL DEPUTY CITY CLERKS, PROVIDING THE NUMBER THEREOF, THE METHOD OF THEIR APPOINTMENT, THEIR OATH OF OFFICE, QUALIFICATIONS, COMPENSATION AND DUTIES. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS : Section 1. The position of special deputy city clerk is hereby established. Six deputy city clerks shall be appointed by the Mayor with the consent of a majority of the elected members of the city council. Ak Section 2. The special deputy city clerks shall take the same oath of office prescribed by ordinance for the city clerk, and the oath shall be administered by the Police Judge. Section 3. Each special deputy city clerk shall be a resident of the city, at least twenty one years of age, and entitled to vote at the special municipal election to be held in the city on June 14, 1966. Section 4. The special deputy city clerks shall serve without salary or compensation. Section S. The special deputy city clerks shall perform the following duties: (A) Receive applications for absentee ballots to be voted in the special municipal election in the City of Jefferson, Missouri, on June 14, 1966. (B) Deliver the applications to the Clerk of the City so that the names of all applicants may be posted as provided by law. (C) Receive official absentee ballots and envelopes and all instructions required by law from the City Clerk and deliver same personally to the applicant therefor for execution by applicant in the manner provided by law. (D) Upon proper execution of the absentee ballot as required by law, to render such assistance as may be requested bythe absentee voter in mailing the absentee ballot the City Clerk. Sbdtion 6.
