AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, AUTHORIZING
THE MAYOR AND THE CITY CLERK OF THE CITY TO EXECUTE A WRITTEN
AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE HIGHWAY-COMMISSION OF MISSOURI RELATING M
THE MAINTENANCE OF CERTAIN ROADWAYS WITHIN THE CITY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON,
MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The Mayor and the Clerk of the City are hereby
authorized to execute a written agreement with the State

Highway Commission of Missouri relating to the maintenance of
certain roadways within the city.
Section 2. Said agreement shall read in words and figures

This agreement executed on this day of ,
19 , by the State Highway Commission of �i.ssouri, hereinafter called
"Commissior:=, and the City of Jefferson City, hereinafter called
"Agency":
Because of the construction of a relocated section of highway,
Commission no longer considers it economically feasible to maintain
the following sections of state highway all in Cole County within
the City li�mits . of Jefferson City, as shown on Exhibit A attached
hereto and made a part hereof:
(1) Route 54 (Madison Street) from Station 4+35 .0 to Station
20+00, said section of highway generally extending from Atchison
Street in a southwesterly direction to a point approximately 100 feet
north of the Madison Street Southbound Ramp.
(2) Route 54 Connection to Jefferson Street, from Station 22+25
to Station 26=75, said section of highway generally extending from
tae intersection of Jefferson Street and Swifts Highway in a southerly
direction to a point where the projected south right of way line of
the Jefferson Stadium Drive Connection intersects the centerline of
the present pavement.
(3) Route C f:a;. Station 25+60 to StGi,ior. 45+00 said section of
highway generally extending from a point in the center of the road
south of the intersection of the E-ICJ section line of Section 13, T 44
N, R 12 W and the row th right of way' line of Route C. in a westerly
direction to the west li.mius line of the City of Jefferson, said
limits line being the N-S, section line of Section 13, T 44 N, R 12 W.
However, because of a desire of Agency to maintain said section
of highway to provide service to certain areas, Commission will
retain said highway so long as Agency, with its own forces or by
contract, shall provide reasonable maintenance thereon in a manner
similar to other highways maintained by Agency in the area.
In the event said highway is not maintained in an acceptable
manner by Agency, then Commission may, after 60-day notice to Agency
of its intention to do so, terminate this maintenance agreement and
abandon the right of way for said highway, so that same may be dis-
posed of by Commission in the manner provided by law.
In the event Agency shall find that there is no longer cause for
maintenance of the section of highway herein involved, and shall so
advise Conmriission, Commission will then advise Agency of the date on

which maintenance may terminate, such date to be within 90 days from
receipt of such notice from the Agency to the Commission.
This contract is executed under authority of Section 31, Article
IV, Constitution of .l-�issouri, 1945, authorizing maintenance of state
highway by political subdivisions.
