AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, REGULATING THE
PARKING OF MOTOR VEHICLES ON THE ROADWAYS OF THIS CITY, PRESCRIB-
ING A PRESUMPTION AND PROVIDING A PENALTY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON,
MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Parking Vehicles Prohibited. The operator of a vehicle
shall not park the same: (a) at any point on the west half of Bolivar Street
between McCarty Street and Elm Street; (b) at any point on the east half
of Bolivar Street between McCarty Street and the south end of the Highway 50
overpass bridge south of McCarty Street.
Section 2. Presumption to Apply. In any prosecution for a violation
of either provision of Section 1 of this ordinance, proof that the vehicle des-
cribed in the complaint was parked in violation of a provision of Section 1,
together with proof that the defendant named in the complaint was at the time
of the parking the owner of the vehicle, shall then constitute in evidence a
prima facie presumption that the owner of the vehicle was the person who
parked the vehicle at the point where, _and for the time during which, such
violation occurred.
Section 3. Penalty. Any person violating any of the terms of this
ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction
thereof, shall be fined not more than $100.00 or be imprisoned not longer than
90 days, or be punished by both such fine and imprisonment.
Section 4. Effective Date. This ordinance shall take effect and be
in force from and after its passage and approval.
