AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, REPEALING ORDINANCE
NUMBER 7931 OF THE CITY REGULATING THE OPERATION OF MOTOR VEHICLES ON
THE ROADWAYS OF THE CITY AND ENACTING A NEW ORDINANCE RELATING TO THE
SAME SUBJECT AND PROVIDING A PENALTY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI,
AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Ordinance Number 7931 of the city regulating the oper-
ation of motor vehicles on the roadways of the city, is hereby repealed.
Section 2. 1. Manner of operating vehicles., maximum speed limits.
Every person operating a motor vehicle on the roadways of this city shall
drive the same in a careful and prudent manner, and shall exercise the
highest degree of care, and at a rate of speed so as not to endanger the
property of another or the life or limb of any person.
2. No vehicle shall be operated at a speed in excess of:
A. 70 Miles Per Hour:
(a) On the Whitton Expressway between Vetter's Lane
underpass and the -east city limits.
B. .55;Miles Per Hour:
(a) . On .the .Whitton Expressway between Vetter's Lane
underpass and the west city limits.
(b) On U. S. Highway 54 between the south end of
� - the Missouri River Bridge and U. S. Highway 50
Business Route overpass.
(c) On U. S. Highway 63 between Bolivar Street and the
south end of the Missouri River Bridge.
(d) On U. S. Highway 54 between the south city limits
and the U. S. Highway Business Route 50 overpass.
Section 3. Penalty. Any person who violates any of the provisions
of section 1 of this ordinance, upon conviction thereof, shall be punished
by a fine of not more than $100.00, or by imprisonment in jail for not
more than 90 days, or by both such fine and imprisonment.

Section 4. Effective Date. Thidi ordinance shall take effect and
be in force from and after its passage and approval.
