AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, CREATING THE OFFICE
OF SPECIAL DEPUTY CITY CLERK, PROVIDING THE NUMBER THEREOF, DEFINING
THE METHOD OF THEIR SELECTION AND APPOINTMENT, THEIR COMPENSATION, DUTIES,
OATH AND TERM OF OFFICE.
r BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, AS
FOLLOWS:
Section 1. There is hereby established the office of special deputy
city clerk. Four special deputy city clerks shall be appointed by the
Mayor to the office after their selection as herein provided.
Section 2. Special deputy city clerks shall take the oath of office
prescribed by ordinance for the City Clerk, and the oath shall be adminis-
tered by the Police Judge of the city.
Section 3. Special deputy city clerks shall serve without compensa-
tion. Their term of office shall begin as soon as they take the oath of
office and their term of office shall expire at 6:00 p.m. on Monday,
November 6, 1967.
Section 4. Special deputy city, clerks shall perform the following
duties:
(a) Receive applications for absentee ballots to be voted
in the special election held in the city on November
7, 1967.
(b) . Deliver such applications to the city clerk so that
the names of all applicants may be posted as pre-
scribed by law.
(c) Receive official absentee ballots, envelopes and in-
structions prescribed .by law from the city clerk and
deliver the same in person to applicants for execution
in.the manner provided by law.
(d) . Upon execution of the absentee ballot, to render such
aid as may be requested ,by .the absentee ballot voter
in mailing the ballot to the city clerk.
Section 5. The Chairman of the Democratic City Committee and s .
the Chairman of the Republican City Committee each shall select two (2)
persons to serve as special deputy city clerks for the purposes mentioned
in this ordinance. They shall furnish the names of the persons selected
to the City Clerk by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 1, 1967.
Section 6. Any person appointed a special deputy city clerk shall
be a resident .of the City of Jefferson, Missouri.
Section 7. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from
and after its passage -and approval.
