SUBJECT: PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION ACTIONS – REGULAR
MEETING OF MARCH 17, 2021
RECOMMENDATION:
The City Council is requested to receive and file the Parks and Recreation Commission
(Commission) actions from their regular meeting of March 17, 2021.
BACKGROUND:
On March 17, 2021, the Commission held their regularly scheduled meeting.
ANALYSIS:
Following is a summary of actions taken at the March 17, 2021, Commission regular
meeting:
1.ROLL CALL:
Present: Commissioner - Haddad, Tarin, Vance, Vice-Chairman Baroldi,
Chairman Rosso
Absent: Commissioner - None
Excused: Commissioner - None
2.PRESENTATIONS - None
3.CONSENT CALENDAR
The Commission approved the regular minutes of the February 17, 2021 meeting
and received and filed the Monthly Report for February 2021.

4. UFINISHED BUSINESS
A. COMMITTEE ON AGING UPDATE
The Commission received a verbal update from Director of Parks and
Recreation Matsumoto regarding items for the upcoming Committee on Aging
meeting on April 27, 2021.
B. PRIMROSE PARK UPDATE
The Commission received a verbal update from Director of Parks and
Recreation Matsumoto regarding Primrose Park. He reported that the City
Council awarded a contract to CEM Construction. He stated that the City will
move forward with value engineering specific park components to reduce the
overall cost of the project. He concluded that the groundbreaking is
scheduled to take place in April.
5. NEW BUSINESS
A. FEBRUARY PROGRAMMING RECAP
The Commission received a verbal update from Director of Parks and
Recreation Matsumoto regarding February programming including Craft Club,
Healthy TC, Family Trivia Night, and the Lunar New Year event.
B. REVIEW OF DIAL-A-RIDE TRANPORTATION SERVICES
The Commission received a verbal presentation from Secretary Venters
regarding the survey results provided Dial-A-Ride (DAR) members who used
services in 2020. Southland Transit, Inc., (the City’s DAR provider) was
noted to have prompt and professional service and that the vehicles used
were sanitary with social distancing standards enforced. No changes to the
City’s DAR services were recommended by the Commission.
6. COMMUNICATIONS – None
7. UPDATE FROM PARKS & RECREATION DIRECTOR
A. The Commission received the Parks and Recreation Director’s Report for the
month of March 2021.

Reviewing the Commission actions of March 17, 2021, furthers the City’s Strategic Goal
of Citizen Education and Communication.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This item does not have an impact on the Fiscal Year (FY) 2020-21 City Budget.
