AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF THE ROADWAY OF I COTTAGE LANE IN THE BLOCK FROM THE CENTER OF THE INTERSECTION (' OF COTTAGE LANE AND HOUCHIN STREET TO THE CENTER OF THE INTER- SECTION OF COTTAGE LANE AND GORDON STREET IN THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, BY PAVING WITH PORTLAND CEMENT CONCRETE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, AS Ii FOLLOWS: �ii SECTION 1. Whereas, it was heretofore found and declared by the City Council, by its resolution passed and approved on May 2, 1955 necessary to pave with Portland Cement Concrete the roadway of Cottage Lane in the block from the center of �i the intersection of Cottage Lane and Houchin Street to the �i center of the intersection of Cottage Lane and Gordon Street and it appearing to the City Council that said resolution has been duly published according to the law for more than seven (7) consecutive insertions, in the Post-Tribute, a daily news- �� paper, printed and published in the City of Jefferson, Missouri, i and a. -majority of the resident owners of property along said section of Cottage Lane liable for the costs of said improvement, and who own a majority of the front feet on said .Cottage Lane intended to be improved, have not filed with the City Clerk a ,i protest against said contemplated improvement. !� SECTION 2. That the said road of Cottage Lane be graded and paved in accordance with the plans and specifications submitted by the City Engineer and filed in the office of the City Clerk, and that the total cost of the work aforesaid shall be charged and levied as a special assessment against the real estate abutting and fronting on said contemplated improvement, and special tax bills shall be issued therefor as provided in the City Charter, and in Sections 764, 765, 76t, 767 of Chapter 13, of the Revised Ordinances of the City of Jefferson, Missouri 1941, and of the Revised Statutes of the State of Missouri, 1949, i and amendments thereto. SECTION 3 . The City Engineer is hereby instructed to advertise i for bids for this improvement. Ii SECTION 4 . There is hereby levied and assessed the following I� rate on all real estate and personal property within the limits of the City of Jefferson Missouri, not exempt from taxation by 'i the constitution or the laws of the State of Missouri, as shown by the assessment book of the City of Jefferson, Missouri, for the year 1955, and on all Merchants and Manufacturers statements, made as provided by law. Ii First - For the purpose of paying all current expenses of the IiCity of Jefferson, Missouri for the fiscal year, the sum of 90 i cents on the one hundred dollar valuation. I) . 1
