VETO
I am vetoing Ordinance 01-4 because there is no reason for the position of Deputy Mayor
to be eliminated. It is a nonpaid position done on a voluntary basis so that I might better
serve the citizens of Carteret. The Deputy Mayor answers telephones, takes messages
and represents the Mayor and the Mayor's position on various matters when the Mayor is
unable to do so. It was a waste of taxpayer money to eliminate this position and is a slap
in the face to every taxpayer that has a problem and is looking for an immediate response.
-- This is another Ordinance by this council that has nothing to do with serving the public
interest.

ORDINANCE ELIMINATING THE POSITION OF DEPUTY MAYOR
BE, IT, ORDAINED by the Borough Council of the Borough of Carteret that the
position Deputy Mayor of the Borough of Carteret is hereby eliminated.
BE, IT, FURTHER, ORDAINDED that section 4d6 of the Code of the Borough
of' Caneret is hereby replaced.
