Section 1. Ordinances Numbered 6142 and 4201 of the City o
'1 of Jefferson, M4ssouri, pertaining to the sale of fireworks to I`
any person, firm or corporation within th6s city, authorizing
exceptions to be made in flavor of civic organizations, and authori-
zing the Mayor of this city to issue permits to civic organizations
to operate protechnical displays, be and the sam r is hereby repealedii
Section 2. Sale of rireworks prohibited. It shall be un-
lawful qithin the City of Jefferson, for any person, firm or corp-
4ration, tossikl, offer for sale, expose for sale, use, discharge
or explode any fireworks, black cartridges, cannon or device in
which explosives are used, firecrackers, torpedoes, roman candles,
46erial salutes, pyrotechnic display devices or bombs.
Section 3. Exceptions made. Nothing contained in the pre-

a duly issued and unrevoked permit, as hereinafter provided, )
11 or shall prohibit the sale or use of sparklers or colored flares 1
or the sale of blank cartrid es for theatrical purposes, signal
1"purposes in athletic contests or sports events, aerial bombs for
iteetings, or such articles dor the use of the militia, police or
Rrrny; nor shall it prevent the sale of any wholesaler, dealer or
obber, within this city at wholesalem provided the same are shipped
Ind delivered directly to consignees outside the limits of the
�Icity.
Section 4. Permits by Mayor, the ihayor is hereby authorized
to issue permits to civic or public organizations , fair assoeiationsl!
or officials in charge of public parks, for pyrothechnical display
on application thdrefor stating the time and place of such display, f
rovided the mayor is satisfied that the public safety will not be
endangered by such display. I
Section 5. This ordinance shall be in force and effect from
and after its passage and approval.
